    An excellent vlog this week.
I feel from what you said Callum that you may at one time have felt it necessary to fill your episodes with specific events, almost like having a story board you planned to follow. The truth which is unfolding is that as well as the amazing landscape you occupy it is now Callum and Roks who the audience is interested in. You have your own story and are becoming story tellers. Irrespective of how normal you may feel your experience is, it is a wonderful thing for others to watch and listen to.
The framing of your short passages of film has been brilliant in your most recent postings. Of course you do have the advantage of the landscape you occupy being unlike almost any other and which looks amazing wherever you point the lens. We're so pleased you went out to Sanna this week, we even caught a glimpse of the cottage we stayed in across the bay in Portuairk earlier this year.
We met the same band of pigs, they seem to be rather adept at escaping as they were almost always on the road whenever we passed their fields. We too do not eat animals and were delighted to see your sheep saving skills, such a shame they will end up on a plate...but that is a choice I guess (for us, not them)
Callum, taking the plunge for a hair cut is not a decision to be made lightly and you obviously have great trust in Roks, it looked OK to me so that must be a relief.
The last time I posted I left a Van Morrison song, as I was watching I was wondering if I might find something apt for this week. During the haircut section it struck me how much Callum looks like the late, great Rory Gallagher so I am posting a song I feel is appropriate for those who appreciate a dram..my apologies that Rory may have been partial to "The Irish" as opposed to "Scotch"
In concluding I just want to say thankyou for letting us visit our favourite place on the planet every other week, I get all misty eyed just to see it. Keep on keeping on and don't change (too much) here's the Rory link, enjoy.

Wow, what a beautiful comment (again!). It definitely feels like the right direction that we want to take, slow and artistic videos but also a bit of fun too. For a long time, for each video we were trying to do something 'big' but then we realised that maybe people appreciate more the "not so mundane' everyday life we live.
Oh and you are not wrong with Calum looking like Rory Gallagher. Interesting, he passed away only seven months before Calum was born... 😂😂😂 the resemblance is uncanny. It's a shame that Calum can't sing like Rory, but he definitely enjoys a good whisky 🥃
Looking forward to the next song/artist you will come up with in your next video (and it can't be happy birthday).
Thank you for sharing your blog, we are excited to have a read 😊 all the best to you David and Hannah!

Totally love this channel, due to your uplifting spirit and the views. My progress on my place in Port Ellen is coming along with it being carpeted and and a cooker! slow progress and at this pace will be in by Jan.... Getting a boat asap, not a sail boat but a large Rib and IWILL be bringing my weapons due to my appreciation of H.E.M.A, You know what they say, if there isnt a group near you then start one.. Looking at the scenery and listening to you both makes me feel wholesome and its why iam moving out the cities. Love your positivity. Class act.

I've kept pigs in the past and wild boar too. I had one lovely wild boar sow called Fifi who used to escape the huge enclosure every night and roam miles foraging ..The evidence was plain to see with all the digging, but when I arrived each morning , she was sleeping soundly in her shed filled with deep straw. I found out she could easily lift the fence with her snout to leave of her own free will . We had the pigs for environmental reasons , not for meat. Just found the channel and very much enjoying . Best wishes

Aww that's so cute, thank you for sharing. Fifi sounds amazing and I'm sure she had a great life with you 😍 it does seem like those two wee piggies love escaping but not so good at getting back in. Maybe they rely on tourists to put them back in 😂😂 welcome to our channel and so happy you enjoyed the video 🥰

Another great video and insight into the area.
Roks asked Amy and myself if we had been to the abandoned village and I said we had. I was getting mixed up with the settlement at Camas nan Geall. So we haven't seen the village in this video. Thanks for showing this in your latest vlog and it's given us a new destination to seek out on our next trip to the area.
And the sunset stag..... Magnificent. It's good on camera but I'm glad we saw it for real. That was a spectacular sky of fire.
I hope you get many more 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hi both 🥰 thank you for leaving a comment!
I think there are quite a few different abandoned settlements in the area, we passed a group of ruins when we went for a walk along the coast to the right from Sanna😀We both love Camas nan Gaell, would love to come back in time and see what was happening there.
So happy you have a new place to visit when you are up next time ❤ hopefully it won't be long 😊the sunsets we've had were incredible...
      All the best 🥰

I'd also love to go back in time to see these places and how they went about their lives.
Times would have been hard. I often think about how they fed themselves.
Obviously eggs, fish and occasionally meat from livestock, but vegetables would be very difficult to grow in some of these areas. They would have had a far greater knowledge of edible wild plants/seaweed and mushrooms than I could ever wish to know.
I've got a great video of the piggies on the Sanna road. I'll put it up. They're so funny.
The clocks going back will have you seeing the dark nights drawing in much sooner now, but there's lots to experience in the dark. Senses are heightened worth the lack of light.
      Embrace the winter

I give the sheep a 10 out of 10 for that leap of faith. Thanks for saving him/her. I was thinking he would be cold after getting soaked but I think that is why fishermen wear wool sweaters and coats, because of the insulating quality of the wool. I read somewhere wool stays warm even when wet because of the lanolin. I live in a place where the Native people have traditionally knit sweaters called Cowichan using grey, black and white wool to knit their traditional patterns. I actually have one that would fit Calum; it needs some repairs done on one of the sleeves. If you’re willing to take it on, Roxana, I will send it to you from Canada. Blessings and love to you both.

    • @ardview-vanlife
      @ardview-vanlife  10 месяцев назад +1

I think we can definitely give the sheep a solid 10 for the dive too, I (Roksana) can probably learn from her 😂 you are totally right, the wool is such an incredible material and at the end of the day, those sheep are 'designed' to live in harsh winters on the west coast. We spent 10 minutes squeezing the water out of her wool so at least she wasn't that heavy. Crazy sheep 😂😂
Sharon that is so kind of you and I would be so happy to fix up the sweater and give it a new home 💓Cowichan sweaters look so beautiful.
We would be more than happy to cover the shipping cost 😊

Wonderful! The sweater is a pullover with a shawl collar. The sleeves are quite long and the wool is thick. I’m glad it will be worn again. It’s in excellent condition except for the damage to the one lower sleeve. It is too beautiful to be in my closet in the dark. All I need is an address.
Now here’s my problem and the cause of my delay in responding. I can’t get into my email so if the address isn’t a PO Box I can give you my sister’s email to keep it private. I’m old and tech challenged.
