  • Small village Mano Juan is located on the Island Saona, which measures 110 square kilometers. Twelve families founded Mano Juan in 1944, during the tyranny of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, who took them there to serve as sentinels for their resources.
Mano Juan is a beautiful natural reserve with turquoise waters, surrounded by palm trees and white sand. It is a small fishing village in which few people live in very humble colored wooden houses. The people of the town are very friendly and have shops where you can buy typical country souvenirs.
By decree 1311 of September 16, 1975, the island was declared a protected area. The typical shops were started about 26 years ago.
    Thanks fow watching!

I'm not sure if you have noticed it, but only about 10% of the island is known to tourists and locals. The remaining 90% is pretty much unknown. So much so that there are no pictures of the interior of the island online. I am Dominican, and I wish I could go deep into the interior of the island and come up with the first pictures; something tells me that there could be caves that have never been explored. Thank you for the video.

thanks for your comment. You are right, only a small part of the island is seen by tourists. You can also spend the night on the island and explore it yourself

@Gabrijela1972 that would be awesome but unfortunately there are no trails that could take me there. I'd would have to make my own.
