- The rescue effort in Syria is more complicated than in neighbouring Turkey.
Years of war have left the country unprepared to deal with such a devastating natural disaster.
It is thought at least 3,000 people have been killed across Syria and Turkey by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake.

Unprepared due to the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people! Countries are afraid to help them because of these horrible sanctions. If America really cared about the thousands still buried alive under the rubble they would have frozen these horrible sanctions from the minute the earthquake happened or even stop these sanctions. God help turkey and Syria, RIP to all the victims, really heartbreaking to watch.

Funny how if this happened in the UK or the US, no country would give aid to them, so why should US and UK give aid to them.

Could it possibly be that the UK and the US have more advanced machinery and have the resources to actually be prepared for these catastrophic disasters? Also could Syria be actually asking for help because of the crippling sanctions imposed on its people that unavoidable unprepared them for these due to their economic crisis caused by these sanctions? I can assure without these sanctions and excluding the last 12 year’s fighting terrorism Syria would have not needed anyone to deal with this disaster. Hope this answers your pathetic question?

I hate Assad, but US should give relief from sanctions so hard currency cash flows to the people or aid group can help. And the so-called rebels (no many left, as they were defeated) should completely stop any fighting or restrictions on movements.
