As someone who spent most of my time in the Midwest I really appreciate hearing a Los Angeles news station talking about things that happen in the middle of nowhere and smack dab in the middle of America. We often feel forgotten by "coastal elites" It's important to pay attention to everything that's going on everywhere
I was in the area that day. Scariest day of my life. A big one was forming over my car on the highway… I gunned it off highway exit and then hid under bridge in my car with lies of other people. Horrifying memory
I was praying for all the people in the track of that huge wedge tornado that hit Omaha. I was watching Ryan Hall Y'all. That wedge stayed on the ground forever. We watched it start as a funnel and within 2 minutes,it was the huge wedge. It was measured as 1.25 miles in width. I have never seen anything like it. The one in the video is small compared to the monster that hit Omaha.

I live along the Texas gulf coast and I could tell by the southerly winds here that there were going to be some bad tornados in the midwest. The atmospheric disturbance is palpable. Be safe out there. Praying for all in harm’s way🙏
I moved here a year ago and multiple tornados passed directly by my house. That huge one just barely missed me by the grace of God. But the neighborhood over was leveled. I pray they're safe and able to recover.
I was there for the 1975 tornado -- in Benson area near Maple St. It rained 'pink fiberglass insulation' for quite awhile after it went by. I cleaned up a bunch in the yard but there was insulation stuck in the trees for years. And now that I live in West O, still near Maple St, I wasn't far from this tornado either. Fortunately my parents, who live in Elkhorn, remained unscathed. They tracked at least four tornadoes in the area - one to the north, one to the south, one to the west and one to the east. The one to the east barely missed the airport but did manage to damage a lot of smaller planes.
I think what is hard to describe and articulate is the eery green sky that comes before a tornado. I remember when one of the 2017 tornados touched down about a mile from my house, the sky outside was so creepy. It's good to hear no one has gotten seriously injured
I'm from the Midwest and I'm also really interested in severe weather unfortunately I had to work today but I usually watch all of these storm chaser live streams. If it was one of the most powerful tornadoes in the US it would be an EF-5 and would be more powerful than the more Oklahoma tornado or the El Reno Nevada tornado which was only an EF3 but had the highest recorded wind speed on Earth ever, but wasn't rated high enough because the ratings are based on damage and it mostly just got fields but it was 2.6 miles wide and killed three veteran tornado chasers back in 2013. I'm excited to go back and see the footage from today. Sounds like an outbreak for the books
Why is it that every time there is an outbreak of these destructive things suddenly it is the “strongest tornado in US history” . And in the comments section people start talking about another tornado from years ago trying to lobby for it being bigger/stronger/faster etc. like they are tornado groupies or something. It is not a competition or something to be coveted. These terrible storms cause destruction and to worry about whether your state had the strongest/biggest/fastest shows where our society is in terms of culture. We should focus on the lives these events have affected and less on competitive tornado chasing.
Republicans, please do not send any $$$ tp help any pro ukrainians in affected areas by tornado. They got 60 billion to ukraine, so let them deal with it.
Tornados have been around forever. It has nothing to do with "messing with weather". Tornadoes occur dozens of times each year around this time. They are devastating and terrifying but they are inevitable and they are common. This tornado is mild in comparison to what it could've been. That said, the last tornado that took a large death toll was 11 years ago in Joplin, Missouri. It was the last recorded EF5 tornado in the USA. This means it had a windspeed of over 200mph and a widespread path of destruction. The largest was in 1999 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That tornado was not just an EF5 but it holds the record for the highest windspeed ever recorded on the planet... over 310mph. Dubai's weather is not relevant to these tornadoes. We have yet to see the worst kind of tornado possible because we have yet to see an EF5. Pray that we do not.
@@leareed3749 Well i know that and it's the intensity of them now and it's a fact they are doing stuff to our weather to manipulate it to save our planet lol So think outside the box and do some research.
Al of the Californian that have moved here (Omaha) are second guessing their decision after this. This isn't that unusual, and I don't know why the reporters here were saying it was. Nebraska has a long recorded history of Tornado activity, and powerful ones at that
