Asking this question to Carmelo is ironic, since the Knicks gutted their whole team for him back in the day and all those guys that were traded, I remember seeing in the playoffs on teams that they were traded to, in the following years

Andre , Melo you don't have to bring Randle off the bench he's going to fit in perfectly. This is the first time he starts the season with two bonified 3 & D Wings who can give him the spacing he needs to operate. Also he's going get them some open looks due to his ability to draw doubles. Plus the P& R actions between him & Jalen are going to be lethal.

it has to do with what his responsibilities were with the Nets vs the Knicks. he doesn't have to carry a team now, he can focus on more of a balance. let the shots come to him, tons of looks on the perimeter, lock down D. we know the chemistry will be there
He hasnt played great defense last 2 years, and he really, really cannot dribble. Yes the responsibility was too much in BK, but he’s not an all star waiting to happen. He’ll be good but I guess we’ll see how it all comes together

As much as Jalen is the superstar point guard, the offense works best when it flows through Julius. His passing, both out of the post and on drive&kicks, gets so many open looks for our shooters, he shoots a high enough volume of 3s to draw his man out of the paint for Jalen to drive, and he does all that while still being a bully in the post. He lightens everybody else's workload, and we saw how important that is these past playoffs with everybody gassed and injured by the end of the pacers series.

There’s no reason to let Randle go now. His role doesn’t need to change he’s still the #2 option. Mikal and OG are complimentary players that will play off of Brunson and Randle’s playmaking

Starters:
Brunson - PG
Bridges - SG
Anunoby - SF
Rnadle - PF
Hartenstein - C
Bench:
McBride/Kolek - PG
DiVencenzo - SG
Hart - SF
Robinson - C
Put Brunson and Randle in the high pick and roll. Place Bridges and OG on wings and IHart floats the low key. If defense goes under the pick Brunson has 3s all day, fight over the pick Brunson ends up in lane for floaters, lobs to IHart and kick out 3s or slahing to OG and Bridges. If defense flashes or doubles Brunson off the pick pocket passes to Rnadle for elbow jumpers or drives. Brunson - Randle become the Stockton - Malone of this era. That is a hard offense to defend...what does defense choose to do?. And OG/Bridges/Hart/DeVencenzo are all interchangeable thought the course of a game. Kolek was a good draft as back up point

I don’t see him averaging that many points next season. The scoring will be more evenly distributed between him Brunson and Bridges who I think will be our top 3 scorers. I think Brunson’s scoring will also go down slightly, with Bridges they both don’t have to score as much. I see Brunson averaging 24ppg Julius 23ppg and Bridges 19ppg. 🤷🏽♂️

No other power forward in the league offers his combo of shot creation, passing, volume 3pt shooting, and post play. He makes everyone else's job so much easier when he drives and kicks to open looks, or draws defenders out of the paint with his 3pt threat for jalen to drive and OG to slash, and he can bang in the post with every PF in the league. He's not going anywhere

That was a great trade for the Knicks. Mikal fits in perfectly, he gives Brunson immediate help, adds more shooting and a great defender to a already great defensive team. They also have 6 first rounders over the next 7 years left
Julius is 6'8 no way would you put him at the five. The key is to have versatile BIG MEN. Not a 6'8 playing center. You got Jokic, you got KP when healthy, you got AD, Chet, and Wemby. They would beat that mismatch to death

The Knicks still have plenty of picks in the chamber even though a lot of them are protected, they are fairly young and, they have assets if they had to make another move. This move lets me know the Knicks are all in on Jalen Brunson. They are building around Jalen Brunson and, that's rightfully so. Jalen Brunson is a top 10 player in the NBA. The Knicks are confident in their star and, the overall makeup of their team. I believe Mikal Bridges will have his best season with the Knicks. Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and, Donte DiVincenzo have all had their best seasons with the Knicks. I believe Mikal Bridges will get back to his all NBA defensive form and, I believe Bridges will be more efficient with the Knicks. I also like this move for OG to have another great defender with him. I want to see Julius Randle make a step in the postseason. Julius Randle is a very underappreciated player. If Julius Randle can play like he does in the regular season, The Knicks are dangerous. The last two postseasons Julius Randle was hurt, I want to see how he plays when healthy.The Knicks have great size, depth and, they have better spacing. I believe the Knicks can compete for a championship.

For the knicks having a bumch of draft picks means nothing because they got got a team where almost everybody is under 30 and theres talent all around the roster, a rookie would not get much playing time and would be a waste (especially under thibs).
