The saddest thing about this movie is the fact that we don’t really know much about the friendship between Padraic and Colm prior to the events. I get the distinct feeling that they were never really friends in the traditional sense. It seems to me that Colm always viewed Padraic as just a simple man who he could share a beer with at a pub but really couldn’t do much else with. And one day Colm just woke up and realized he was getting older and didn’t want to make time for appeasing Padraic anymore.
That was the impression I got, Padraic and Colm misunderstood each other's view of their friendship. Padraic thought they were best friends, Colm thought they were good drinking buddies, and they both assumed it was mutual
I like the implications of this interpretation but it seems from the town’s reactions you’re meant to believe they had a reputation for being legitimate friends. Though one could maybe assume that the townsfolk see them drink together every night and mistakenly assume that Colm would have a regarded their bond with a deeper sense of connection
I think that would be accurate cause at the pub, Jonjo and Gerry tell Pàdraic "I did think the two of ye always made a funny pairing", like a strange relationship that never seemed to them like being actual best friends. Just pub buddies, like Colm saw it
@@potatoman5115 Or they just always saw them at the pub talking together each night, and heard Padraic talk about what good "friends" they were after. Appearance is everything after all
Looking back, they did the same thing with "Three Billboards". 4 theatres the first weekend, 50-something theatres the second weekend, then a wide release. The movie should be playing nearby soon!
Can someone please explain to me what is meant by "rowing" in the movie? "Have you been rowing?" They mention that again in the very next scene. What is "rowing" in this context?

Everyone in the town is confused as to why their friendship ended so I think it was a much stronger bond, which makes their separation even more sad.

"He was smoking, Siobhán, how do ya smoke in yer sleep, like?" Probably my favourite line in the film, I love dry humour like that
Simple drama but magnified. Love it!
This movie is just so precious.
Breathtaking and even in laughter
Opening scene, siobhan nailed it! roll credits lol
She says it meaning to ironic-- of course he still likes him. But she's right.
Why the hell isn't this movie playing hardly anywhere? I have to drive 2 hours to see it and I live in a city.
I think the wide release starts November 3rd or 4th. It’s playing in my local theatre next week. I can’t feckin wait to see it too.

My local cinema has 8 theatres and 3 movies showing...I'd have to drive 80 minutes to see this on the big screen
Monopolies
Cause you've been a baaaaaad boy or gil and Jesus saw what you did and he didn't like it, so he moved the movie away from you!
Brilliant movie
Adoro COLIN é um excelente ator maravilhoso e muito carismático ❤
I love this movie
his eyebrows tho!
Kerry Condon deserves oscar more than Jamie Lee Curtis(who was just there maybe 10-15 minutes) and Angela Bassett.

@@VindexSolis Thought as much given the context. But no harm making sure. Thanks irish gigachad :) Godspeed.
@@jeanlundi2141it’s also a Scottish phrase aswell as Irish
@@obiwankenobi5845 I think it's just an English phrase (as in the language)
Row row row your boat
It was obvious that the thumbnail was flipped. Colin's gargantuan facial moles were on the wrong side.
What’s rowing mean?
