- Welcome to Thomas Dark Side episode 4, a curious look into the dark realm of copy and knock off Thomas the Tank products. Thanks to youtuber simierski for posting to me a very nice copy Thomas.
In no way can I endorse these styles of products, they are low quality and often have small parts which easily break away. It should be a very clear reminder to all of us just how good the licensed Thomas & Friends products are.

When I watched these years ago, I liked to recreate the fake Tomy sets with my real Tomy track. I bought some huge Tomy sets just a few years before Tomy stopped making Thomas products. And believe it or not, my go-to and favorite Trackmaster Thomas at the time (and still to this day) was a HIT Toy Company one, which were only around for like a year or two.
I also try to recreate the thomas fake toys (With annoying basic train sounds) with my REAL thomas fake toy with annoying sounds like that as a kid

I can't be seen endorsing those knock off TOMY sets, but I will say at $20 that's a pretty good train set. I have noticed the knock off stuff is coming down in price as well.

Nice job on showing another installment of the Thomas Dark Side with even stranger creations coming out of the woodwork. The two spinning knock-offs are enough to drive anyone mad with their lights, sound, and spin action. The knock-off Ponies shown in the video make me curious as to how bad they are compared to the official toys once you have time to set everything up for a full installment. As always it's nice of you to touch on the dark side of a toy franchise when few people will.
It's strange how much "better" quality the trackmaster related ones are to the other more obvious knockoffs.
I’ve heard that the Trackmaster knock-offs were made in the same factories that made the official ones but Mattel doesn’t control these factories, resulting in different quality. So that’s why I’m scared to get a knock-off because I watched a video of someone unboxing knock-offs and the engines look pretty slow, which I assume the motor my explode sometime.

The boxes are often the best entertainment with the dark side Thomas stuff
The TOMY knock off's are the most impressive, mind you i did show a LEGO DUPLO Thomas a few episodes back and it was also very impressive.

hi, I have had plenty of people send me links to the Thomas wooden knock off's which appear on e-bay, from the ones I have seen they do seem very similar to the real Thomas stuff.
maybe I should get some and pot them through some destructive testing because we already know the real Thomas toy has amazing build quality, I bet those clone impostors will struggle to survive

Just on the labels and Thomas licence info, sometimes a knock off will have false licence info tags, same with the knock off Thomas kids clothes. In a strange way these sorts of knock offs are far more easy to find than the toys. The clothing industry has a huge problem with knock off clothes. Often the tell tale sign is where these items are for sale.

i'm pretty sure episode 5 will be the BIG BIG Loader knock off, that video was pushed back to allow this one to appear

Great vid. People should insult Thomas with they're sheep knock-offs. Also the ending was great and it made a good point. People who don't like you're stuff shouldn't watch it. I also liked how you used you're normal voice for it. But in some ways it seems that if you had used you Thomas or Fail Reel voice it would have ticked them off even more.

Brilliant video Leo! Really interesting to see how many Thomas fakers you can find, over here in the UK I very rarely find fake Thomas items. Good point about the labels, I found a bag in a charity shop and thought it was fake, I came back and checked for the label; turns out it is real! Just very basic and old! ;)
