Hi Brooke, I like your writing tips, thanks. I'm definitely going to check out all your other videos. I'm writing a creative nonfiction account of my recovery processes from developmental trauma. Currently, my first chapter is one page and entirely dialogue-based. The idea is to get straight into the action with a self-contained scene that 'speaks' for itself, so there's way more info in one page than perhaps there would be if written in a literal sense. The whole story is metaphorical with choice metaphors throughout to convey the experience, rather than detailing events graphically, or literally. I know narrative rules are there to be tweaked, but I don't want an editor thinking they're dealing with a wise-ass; or someone who is a complete amateur. Ooh, I've just found your video on The Art of Embodied Writing - now we're talking :)

Hey Andrew! Love it. Definitely break those narrative rules - makes it more fun. :) Happy writing!

Thanks Brooke. Loved the 'Embodied' Podcast. I find your apparent lack of ego refreshing. Speaks volumes. ...(have gone into edit here)
I've also been through your website. I appreciate your focus on female writers so I understand if you say no, but I will be looking for first draft feedback at some point. Not that I need to justify myself or attempt to 'qualify', I was recently identified by my therapist as an HSP - I noted your section on intuition etc. I'm about a third through my first draft and without purposely doing, all my characters, including my protagonist and narrator are gender neutral: I use 'they' throughout. I don't even intend putting my name on the cover; The book is a Bae Crew collaboration. The ACEs-Bae Crew being multifaceted characteristics of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). Or, can you point me in the direction of someone suitable. I've been through a plethora of RUclips channels and I value your opinion..

It's hard to dig in deep and get to the emotions

@@noelmiles7322 Yes. You can "titrate" - that is, siphon so that you work through and write the big emotions little by little.
