this lesson has followed a very efficient method, you, Olga, selected simple sentences with the signs of the stress on the stressed vowels, I really benefited from your reading, I learned new vocabulary, thank you very much Olga. please make more lectures of this method
Wow, this is really interesting. I understood every word. I had no idea what a cognate was. And my reading speed is improving too, I don't stop at every single letter now trying to decipher how to pronounce it. Amazing video! ♥
My favorite thing about these lessons is words aren't phonetically spelled in English. I like the opportunity to try to pronounce the words on my own before I hear them.
Thank you for this helpful video and others you did. I recommend your tutorials for my students. You have to mention however that lots of the given examples in this video are taken from the book Russian Language: 5 elements: level A1 (elementary). - St. Peterburg: Zlatoust, 2008 by Esmantova, T.L. See for example задание 2, стр. 12 или задание 4 б), стр. 14.
Marina Sari Ad-Din , thanks for your comment. I have been using these examples for years. Thanks for the reference. I will certainly take a look at the textbook you mentioned. 🙂
Sadiq Hussain , there is some difference between those words: врач is always a medical doctor, while доктор is always a form of address (Здравствуйте, доктор!) or a PhD person (доктор философии). In everyday Russian врач is used more often while доктор as a medical specialist appears a lot in literature. Hope it helps.

Very good but one could get the impression that это means ‘is’ from the explanation given in the beginning of the video. It means ‘this’ though.
The verb to be doesn't exist in Русский

Aztec Warrior , these words are all cognates (international words). They are easy to understand without translation. 🙂 Why don’t you try to guess.

I disagree! Борщ это не суп! С тем же успехом можно сказать что пельмени это маленькие варёные чебуреки!
Николай Астахов , если борщ не суп, то что это? Десерт? 😆
Лол, борщ ЭТО суп.
