saw this video and decided to take my kayak there yesterday. beautiful lake and nice rangers. Anchored on the far end of the first island and managed one on a crank, 2 on the drop shot, and missed another biggie on the dropshot. tried jigging the shorline timber with no avail though. definitely gonna spend some time there this fall
I fished from my kayak at Marlu today in the afternoon. It was windy so drifting was a problem because I don't have my kayak anchor yet. It was a tough day again I hooked one bass on a chatterbait and that was it, it was so slow they didn't want to bite anything.
I have watched some of your videos of bass fishing at Marlu lake. I live in Middletown and I fished Marlu lake from my kayak once. It was two weekends ago and it was extremely bright and sunny. Tough conditions, I threw crankbaits, lippless cranks and some plastics, didn't catch anything. Any tips?
Thanx for watching. This time of year I like to hit the shorelines with soft plastic and jigs with soft plastics. Fish VERY slow. I use my fish finder not so much to find fish but to look at the structure. When you launch, out a bit to the right there is a relativity new fall down. From that point on about 50 yards north holds a lot of fish. Try that area. If you ever see me out there feel free to fish with me.
Luke Ziegler I don't think I will be going this weekend. If I do it will be first thing Sat morning for a few hours. Sunday is Thompson Park Day so the lake will be closed to anglers.
Hey can you catch nice size bass off land? I'm going there soon and I want to know if I should buy larger hooks or more lures for larger bass. And are there pike there?
Anthony Costa I've only fished from the shore there a few times and never caught anything. I do rather well from the kayak though. No pike. There are largemouth bass, crappie, perch, sunnies, catfish and carp.

+NJBassin Sorry for the late reply. Jigs along the shoreline work great in the fall and winter.
Kayak Angler thanks for the tip. ill give it a shot. any particular color doing good for you?
A blue and black jig with a soft plastic crayfish type trailer..

Yeah no anchor with wind is tough. I didn't get a chance to get out today. Gonna try during the week.
