The Interstate Highway System was a product of the 1930s and 1940s in particular it was inspired by the Autobahn. It was President Eisenhower that started the federal project in 1950s.
@@Amapper It was to move military equipment and personnel rapidly in a national emergency. That's why Hawaii has 3 numbered "Interstates" even though they don't connect to a different state let alone a different island. Each one has a military base at at least one end. MCB Kaneohe Bay, Pearl Harbor, and Schofeild Barracks are the bases if I remember. correctly.
Tip for avoiding roads or railways making a huge hill, bridge or just burrowing through a hill (like ~11:30). When drawing the road, you can use the arrow buttons next to the endpoint to set the hight of that end point, but you can also press M and N on the keyboard while laying the road, to raise or lower the center. So if for example, you see that the road ends up having a bridge in the middle, just press N several times (hold shift to do it in smaller increments) and it will lower the midsection without changing the starting or endpoint heights.
You can change the caternary/non catenary in one of the sub menus in the rail menu to quickly upgrade or downgrade large segments of track without deleting it. Also you're building rail segments too long in some cases which is why it has trouble merging at times.
Nice! new series :) But man, you know you can increase and decrease slope when laying down networks with M and N keys. Also, shift and left click mouse button increase or decrease initial network hight/depth.
From that quick zoom in on the houses, I actually think they kinda look like the houses in the North East of the US. I have visited a few times, and they have a type of home called "colonial" which is all uniform windows and dormers. My fiance's parents own one, and their entire town is various sizes of them. Gorgeous in the winter when they all have candles in the windows.
Shades of Marble Mountain (my fav Cities Skylines series by *Two Dollars Twenty* ) but hey that’s great! Nice to move away from CS for a change. And both of you guys’ level of intelligent creativity is what I love to watch in action.
Wohoooo, TF2. Im late, but so excited to see how this develops. I'm sure you probably figured this out by now, but all the issues you having with the railroads merging are easily solved if you zoom in so you can see what you want to do better.
So I have almost 1,500 hours in both Transport Fever games cumulatively, and I had no idea you could hold down Shift to precisely rotate objects. Mind blown!
You should get into really high detail building. The German word, which quite on point and under which you can find already a number of videos is ‘Schönbauen’. I think this would be really fun for you.
And if he is at it, he could watch some german youtubers that are Schönbau- ing for some inspiration/to see what this game really has to offer! because this episode looked like a new born taking his first steps ^^
Hi im new and wow! I just subscribe and i like the way that you manage to keep ur cool even if your getting frustrated I love your video keep it up!!❤💕
I'm so glad to see you starting out on this game,I know I mentioned the previous title many times to you, but this is shaping up to be even better for detailing. I do agree with the lack of American feel to the buildings, I have a Jamaican series on the go, but the buildings are a glaring error which i am hoping that will be sorted by workshop assets in time.
Omfg how did I not catch this video when it first came out??? I live in Simi Valley and I've never seen it mentioned in a game or anything outside of local news
I binge watched your Nydal series and I don't know if at some point you changed your record settings or got a better microphone, but now we can hear you swallow! It's... off putting. Love your building though. I just can't watch wearing headphones :(
Don't worry, the bear made it.
I'm pretty sure it's not just a bear, it's a MEEBEEB. I couldn't resist making a link to the video from the jschlattLIVE channel...
You knew what I came to the comments for.
Getting some Arrowhead Junction vibes
thinking same thing
I think they'd want that dead and buried in the ground
Charles Rodulfo eh wait what?

One way they sold the idea was as a way to move people and/or the military around during a war or some national emergency.

I was wondering why the UI looks different as well as the tools and assets, I thought this was Cities Skylines 😂 btw, great video!

29:02 - did he make it? :P
Great vid, I'm super excited that this is gonna be a whole series! Thanks!
I really love you for that end-of-the-episode treat
This looks like it’ll be an awesome series! Love the Western style - you should get some fun trains in there.
Cities: Skylines meets Transport Fever 2 :D
You can use M and N to up and down the height of the roads
Omg already loving this series!! I will watch all the episodes!
I was devastated when i realized this is a new series and I can’t binge it immediately. 😭
You sort-of can, if you watch all the way to the end of the video ;)
I like this series! Saludos desde Argentina che!
I’m pretty sure that openttd has a setting that makes the years longer. I think it’s called “day length multiplier” or something similar
Date speed
nice to cu playing TPF2. will you maybe start freaking out on this game like in CS? i hope so :)

Nice Treat. Happy you're doing TF2. One more thing™: You should definitely think about remaining yourself to Straightoaster.

Please pause the time, when you build something
Real Chums of Simi Valley circa 1920
I'm looking at the mountains near Wichita Falls like, "what if there was a train line running through that."
When roads do their weird slope when you connect them try pressing the rotate buttons
You mean when they curve?
@@strictoaster when you're connecting 2 roads they'll sometimes have a weird bump shape
You should check out the channel of Hans Dampf. He is a god in designing things in Transport Fever.
Yeah, I saw some of his videos. Good stuff!
Why in the desert😭😭😭??
Loved the treat
Pause at 10:46 there's the devil
This somehow reminds me of your discontinued series with Flux
14:26 exactly 100 years ago
oO this video didn't have a notification even though i have the channel on it? how exciting ^.^

Oops, just added it.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Oh gods, my ex lives in Overland Park
ngl Your outro kinda sounds like the Home Depo theme song
The Federal Aid Highway Act passed in 1956, if you wanna shoot for the date that the bill passed.
Yeah, I looked that up after I recorded the episode. Thanks for clarifying.
Strictoaster being honest I was like hEy SiRi- as soon as you mentioned it

I binge watched your Nydal series and I don't know if at some point you changed your record settings or got a better microphone, but now we can hear you swallow! It's... off putting. Love your building though. I just can't watch wearing headphones :(
Interstate is 1950s
Ha Ha, I live in the real life Wichita Falls.
“These curvy roads aren’t very American”
(Makes a 40 km/hr road)
:)
He's never seen the midwest then, our roads are everything but straight
The Federal Highway act of 1956. So it not the 40s
It was in planning since the '30s, when the Germans built theirs, the first in the world.
