    Yes, It was Ramong (Full name Ramong Morrison but referred to as Raymond Morrison), Don't know where he is now and they were called 'The Ramong sound' until original Foundations guitarist Alan Warner came up with the name 'The Foundations'. Arthur Brown joined the band for about 6 weeks or so and both he and Clem sang seperate songs although they both stayed on stage throughout each gig.

    The guys in The Ramongs were... Raymond Morrison (Lead Vocals), Clem Curtis (Lead Vocals), Alan Warner (Guitar/Vocals), Lyndsay Arnold (Drums),Con (Keyboards),Pete McBeth (Bass Guitar), and one or two occasional Brass players including Mike Felano on Trumpet . Arthur Brown was not in the band at this stage, he joined when they became The Foundations by which time they got a new drummer and keyboard player and Brass section.

    I'm not aware of any recordings made before The Foundations became famous. There were a few songs written by some members of the band that were 'demoe'd' but that was when they were already famous, funnily enough a couple of these songs appeared on an 80's album by The Foundations, these were written by guitarist Alan Warner and the songs were titled 'You can't fool me' an 'love you now' .

    Hi pluto00011 , no I'm not talking about any songs before The Foundations became famous. I'm talking about the songs that were recorded around 1967 or 1968 after Clem Curtis & the Foundations had their second hit "Back On My Feet Again" . So put simply, songs that were recorded after Their 1967 debut album "From The Foundations" , between that time until Clem left in 1968. And while we're on it, what ever happened to the 3 or 4 tracks recorded for John Peel's Top Gear show ? EG: 96 Tears etc

    @SuperGangstars & @ Kuzuriya02 , if you look at the Top Of The Pops 1967 B&W clip of the band that's where the Iron Mike look a like thing is the strongest. Also look at "Back On My Feet Again RZde8iXKr04 , uploaded by pluto00011, from the side view Clem looks like Iron Mike as well. He also looks like the kind of guy back then you wouldn't want to mess with. Word of caution, there is another clip of "Back On My Feet " that wil blow your eardrums. Beware!! The pluto00011 clip is safe though.

    I stand corrected. He was on 'Back on my feet again' which I believe reached 18 in the charts and,' Any old time, youre lonely and sad' which I think reached 25. As for the American guy whose name I can't remember, the less said about him the better. Him and his cronies are just trying to make a fast buck off the Foundations name. Very sad!

    pluto00011 , who was the original Foundations lead singer ? Was it Ramong ? This was when the group was called The Ramong Sound, & there was Ramong, whats his real name ? Where's he today ? There was another singer as well. When Ramong guy got sent to Jail Clem Curtis took the lead, is that right ? Then Arthur Brown was in the band ffor a period of time. Were Arthur Brown and Clem Curtis both doing duet leads ? I was reading something about the group in 1966 & it was quite interesting to me.

  • @lance007lance
    @lance007lance 16 лет назад +1

    Thanks for the info pluto00011. That sure is interesting. When I come across those thread discussions about the Ramong Sound I'll make a link to here so those guys can read it. I know that they'd be interested too. Are there any pics of the Ramong Sound group ?
    I could only imagine what kind of sound that the group had. So was Ramong West Indian himself ? Unusual name by the way.

  • @lance007lance
    @lance007lance 16 лет назад +1

    pluto00011, thanks for the info. You know there is a bit of interest in Ramong and the Ramong Sound too. I'll try to find the discussions I saw. I think that some people are intrigued by the name and possibly want to know what they sounded like. Tell me, was Arthur Brown a member when they were The Ramong or was he a member after Ramong got sent to the lock-up and the band became Foundations ? Who of the Foundations (at Baby Now That I've Found You era) were members of The Ramong Sound ?

    I really honestly don't know of any recordings other than 'Baby, now that i've found you'......'Back on my feet again'... and 'Any old time you're lonely and sad'...and some album tracks...unless he went into the studio without telling the rest of the band, If I come up with anything, I will let you know as its making me very curious now...Cheers mate! if there's anything else let me know.

    Further to the previous message:
    pluto00011, After "From The Foundations" which was released in 97 and then "Rocking The Foundations" there was the EP with the Plug Track "It's Allright" that was the last released track with The Foundations featuring Clem Curtis on lead vocals. Talking to a friend about this he estimates that Clem Curtis and the band had recorded about seven or eight tracks that never saw the light of day. Would you agree with that estimate or would you say more ? Thanks.

  • @lance007lance
    @lance007lance 15 лет назад

    pluto00011 , me old china, ... have you had a think about what I said to you 5 months ago ? I'me talking about some recordings that Clem Curtis made with the band before he left in 1968, I'm not talking about what may or may not exist before famous, OK. So what happened to the few recordings that Clem made between 1967 - 1968 when he left ? They didn't end up on any LP's did they ? The only live track that ended up anywhere was "96 Tears" which ended up on a European EP. So the others ??

    pluto00011, I'm assuming that you're replying to my question but this isn't the answer that I was looking for. I know about the LP From The Foundations, The (somewhat) Live LP and the songs from Top Gear and 96 Tears etc. I'm talking about the songs that Clem recorded with the band that were never released in any form anywhere right up until this day. How many were recorded and what happened to that material ? Why wasn't it released ? Is it a trade secret or something LOL ? Can you say ?

  • @lance007lance
    @lance007lance 16 лет назад

    pluto00011 , I would like to know. Please tell me if I'm asking the right kind of question or not. I hope that I'm not asking something that you're uncomfortable with answering. If so I apologise. I do believe / know that Clem & The Foundations recorded some songs in 1968 that were never released by PYE on any of their records and never made it onto any of Pye records. So what happened ? Were the tapes destroyed ? Were they shelved ? It would be good to know.

    Correction pluto00011, he was on their second hit as well. You're forgetting that 'Back On My Feet Again' was a hit. Talking about un original Foundations. There is this American guy who has a group called The Foundations. He says he is the rightful owner of The Foundations. He claimed that Clem Curtis & Colin Young failed in their careers and were trying to cash in on the Foundations fame. How pathetic and lame. He has a video up on You Tube somewhere. Also he has a website in the USA.

    Singer (Clem Curtis) still does well ... pluto00011, & I couldn't see anyone else doing 'Baby Now That I've Found You' back then (1967) besides him.
    And you should know where the original Foundations are anyway, well at least one or two of them. Three if you include the original singer here - Clem Curtis !
    Of course if you want to get technical then you could say that Ramong Morrison is the originator of Foundations. Well who whatever, I've seen some American fibber making pathetic claims.

    BTW: What ever happened to the music that the original Foundations recorded with Clem Curtis before he left the band in 68 ? As far as I can tell its never been released.
