Hello , I am a high school student who is plannning to apply to HKU for next year fall . It would be grateful if you could solve few queries of mine
My grades are enough to get admit into HKU and get 100 percent tuition fee waiver and allowance however on the website the exact amount of allowance is not mentioned so do you have any rough idea of how much allowance do HKU generally give or is it dependent on the financial conditional of candidate ?
How much minimum funds are required to live in hong kong as a student ( annually in HKD ) ? And is it also true that they provide dorm only for first two years ?
Hello, first of all congratulations on your excellent scores! Regarding tuition fee, I’m not 100% sure as well since policy often changes, but from what i’ve heard so far, perfect scorers, no matter what exams you’ve taken, get full scholarship (Presidents’ Scholarship) regardless of their financial circumstances.
As for living expenses, it varies a lot depending on your lifestyle and whether you participate in a lot of hall activities and gatherings. But according to HKU official website, an annual fee of HKD 50k is expected.
Residential halls and colleges may not be guaranteed as space is limited, but you may be assigned to CEDARS-administered residences when all hall vacancies for non-local undergrad students are filled up. Whether you can continue to live in halls/ colleges depends on your academic results and contributions to hall, but the criteria vary as well among halls/ colleges.

The scholarship which is in my mind is exclusive for Indian students which offer tuition fee waiver and allowance . However i checked HKU website , and got to know about president scholarship which further include housing too .
My grades are 97 on 100 scale ( 485/500 marks ) in 10th standard and for 11th grade it is 98% ( 490/500 marks ) and expecting same in 12th standard . So these grades aren't actually perfect but can these grades still qualify for president scholars ?
As my scholar friends are either HKDSE/ IB candidates, I’m not 100% sure for your case. Perhaps you can email/ dm HKU Admission Office for further details! :)
