- Customer states theft light comes on and has to wait 10min until it resets and turns back on. I checked it and seems 5volts are active when the theft kicks in. Once it reads it it drops to 4.4 vlts come to find the ignition switch is faulty which causes the signal to not be sent to the pcm at times. I will keep you posted if truck comes back. After ignition switch replacement truck turns on perfectly.
*** @0.38 its 10min sorry
The problem is only the conector. Clean it with contact spray, specialy the pins. Bend the pins a tiny litle bit in the midle so it will make good contact when you connect the conector back again. I had the 10 minute problem every week and now never again for more than 3 years now.
Problem Solved.
Dosen't work
@@sharabi21 For you ! Its now almost two years ago and i have still no 10 minute problem anymore.
What connector do i have to clean?
@@Xr1ffxr4ffx He calls the connector the electrical plugs. In the video you see the green male electrical plug and the female white receptor attached to the dark round ignition switch. Unplug the two and spray CRC electrical cleaner in each end. You can kinda bend the cleaners little red spray tube to get back up into the white female end. Allow it to dry. Over the years oxidation and carbon build up interferes with electrical signals and you Hummer won’t start. Try this before the next step of replacing that ignition switch, you’re likely to save the cost of parts as the ignition switch is likely not the culprit.
I agree you only need to spray CRC electronic cleaner on the green male electrical ignition switch plug and female part. No need to replace the ignition switch. At least start with that simple approach to the no start issue before advancing to replace any parts.
I replaced the ignition sensor and reprogrammed the system and it works most of the time now, however sometimes it still doesn't want to start but if I crank it and hold it will kick over, why is that?
It worked for me 💯
One click to the left or two click to the left to shut off the switch?
Of all the posts on youtube, this one is the best. I purchased a steering colum from an auto salvage. Removed these tw0 philips head screws, replaced just this sensor in my 2006 H3 Hummer. 30 minute fix tops includes re-programing the key. Forget the other 50 posts that say cut this, solder this. BULL CRAP. Replace the sensor only.
Thanks 🙏🏼
I took it to a tuner to disable the VATS. I no longer have to wait 10min to turn on the car. Just make sure they have an HP tuner.
Yes that is also correct. I have a hptuner I have also done them that way. I will upload a video once I get a chance. There are also risks when doing any programming you can brick your pcm so I’d be very careful as well.
is this part good for an automatic Hummer h3 08? having same issue
Yes this truck was an 2008 and automatic. The part number should be the same
@@elitemobileautoelectric7782 I got the last number where it’s 2 instead of 1
I purchased same part number, mine was doing it at times 2 x2 day, since replacement no problems, video kept me having to take to dealer m saved bout $200 thanks so much
No no no, need to replace parts or reprogram! Just unplug the green plug and spray CRC Electronic cleaner into electrical connections. Spray back into female receptacle also allow time to dry and plug back in: NO START issue solved. The ignition switch is not the problem, the problem is carbon buildup and oxidation on electric connection which degrades the signal to vehicle systems one being the anti theft deterrent system forcing you to wait 10 minutes for reset. Remember this is a random issue so doesn’t mean a part is broken, vehicle would never start if ignition switch was broken.
To close the switch, is it just one click?
mine is lite up but not blinking. Will NOT go off. so what's that mean
@billreynolds2766 i would need to look at the Data or possible codes at the bcm to what's going on. Usually order cars would do this due to not entering programming mode.
Would the relay work from the salvage yard?
I got 2 and trying to get it to work on the 2nd one!
They are the same in the colorado and canyon.
Yes they will work the same. Those switches aren’t as expensive as well.
Thanks got stuck at work I am a industrial maintenance tech checked all dumb Crap fuse etc then you tube and 2 hours later it started had do it 4 times thanks
My 09 hummer is doing the same thing.
Now what is it you suggest that I do?
I would go first with the ignition switch (the electrical one)
I put this module on my ignition now my instrument panel don’t work
hello, I have the same problem, but the blocking symbol remains fixed, I changed the sensor piece and on the recommendation of the electrician a resistance was placed to fool the blocking system and it has not been possible to solve it, try the 3 cycles 10 minutes, but only in the last one I try to start it, I don't know if it will be important in each cycle to try to start it, please your help with something that you can guide me I would appreciate it very much I have stopped my truck for 5 months trying everything
I tried to crank then back to on position and it did not work for me. On 10min off 3 seconds. Mine worked on first cycle but I've seen some that need the 30min.
Does the steering wheel have to come off?
No you can swap it out without removing the steering wheel. Just remove the bottom cap off and you will see the ignition switch.
I have a 2008 H3 Alpha and I changed this exact part and it didn’t work for me as I’m still having issues with it not starting. It happens like once a month still.
Try doing a tune and delete the vats system I just got doing one.
Mine does the same thing! It happens almost every week, it’s annoying. When I take it to the dealership, it never happens. Would getting an alarm system put in fix the problem?
It’s a 2009
That won’t fix your issue your car still needs to read the key. I would suggest changing this part since it’s very inexpensive.
I had the same problem I cleaned it ran for couple weeks then right back to the same thing so I put a new alarm system with automatic start never had this problem again it’s been 3years the automatic start by pases the key system my hummer starts every time with remote
Does it works for faukt code *b2957 security system sensor data low circuit low* we need yr help... dubai needs you
Muhammad Ali it’s hard to say since I’m not there to check the circuits but I would change the ignition switch and cylinder lock first.
I did have the sunroof leak I just fixed. Don't know if that's the cause of the problem. This is so aggravating because I can't use my Hummer to rob banks anymore, LOL. (Rusty)
Update
Did this on mine, however it would not turn over the 3 times. I did everything the same just Turning the key to engage the starter would not turn the engine over. And on the 3rd try it started up.
Don't have to turn engine over, just turn key to that position and let go, three to four times. Every ten minutes turn it back to off for ten seconds. EASY-PEASY.
Helpful, thanks
You have to replace the whole cylinder
No, just the electrical part of the ignition switch for this issue. Unless you have a lot of play on the lock cylinder or the key gets stuck trying to turn it.
Please try to do step by step repairing and Filming , your confusing people .
Thanks .
Lennox I’ll take note of that I apologize it was one of my first videos made and I’m do not have experience on editing. Thanks for the input I appreciate it.
YOU ~ ROCK ! !
Thats the electric ignition switch . No pass lock sensors . Theres no programming it is a reset you did.
@RiskyBusiness1515 The correct term is a relearn procedure. That's where the 10min cycles come in. Here is what the OEM service info says :" The passlock sensor is part of the ignition switch, a theft deterrent relearn is needed. Refer to Control Module Reference. "
With the old sensor it cranks, When I installed The new sensor it won’t crank
You have to program it or else it won’t crank.
I've been doing it all day and still security is flashing and won't start. Replaced censor in ignition
Sometimes there’s two methods for programming. First method is turn on switch crank it (it won’t crank) and leave it for 12 minutes ignition on then turn off the switch for 5 seconds and repeat the process a total up to four times”process”. Another method is turn ignition (don’t crank)on leave for 12 minutes turn off switch for 5 seconds and repeat the process up to four times. It should work but if it doesn’t you can also get a locksmith and they will be able to do it as well.
@@elitemobileautoelectric7782 I just did it and worked, shut it off few times and drove 2 blocks then went back to security lockout. Been trying to find out how to bypass in wiring, did it on 2003 avalanche 7 months ago and no trouble.
And thanks for replying, on your weekend
On an 03 Silverado, avalanche u can. But on this particular one u can’t I tried and u can’t do the same bypassing.
@@elitemobileautoelectric7782 thanks for feedback, never had this much trouble with ignition's more than my last 3 gm vehicles. Again thanks for your response
How do you change it tho?
Unscrew those two bolts as seen as in the video then put the key in the on position then pull it out it’s. Wey easy
I've done this and it became so much better but still does it. Rarely though and when the red light comes on while driving all I need to do is turn the car off then on again and it goes away for a couple of weeks then comes back. Very annoying, what do you think the problem is?
Nassir Hussein have you changed the cylinder lock yet?
Dosen't work.
Check where wire goes to connector if you have the water issue that and other cable may be wet that was my issue it is attached to a rail so it depends how you park and rain if you haven't fixed drain tube on Sun roof
Mine is not even cracking what do I do
It’s also ok if it don’t crank, try doing the same steps.
Mine is doing this every other day I have to wait 10 minutes I CANT TAKE IT ANTKOREEEEE
Try going to a tune shop and deleting the vats system. Trust me it’ll relive your pain lol
Just clea it with alcohol
