oh yall are not ready for the studio version...you hear a lot of references to the church pulled back into this song and the studio version is patterned to actual gospel songs with crazy production she's an insane artist
This is my #1 fav songs of Ethel Cain - the first time I heard it & we got to the 'I forgive it all as it comes back to me' part, I fully broke down & just lost it. I'm not religious but it reminded me of everyone that's passed away in my life.
This song comes after two fully instrumental tracks. But the first time I listened to it I absolutely bawled. While she’s great live with less production, a lot of what I love about her music is how incredible her production is.
yall need to listen to the studi version, I love that this is raw just her and the piano. But god the production on the studio version ascends me to heaven all the instruments coming together and the outro on it
Please please listen to the studio version this song is one you scream at the top of your lungs crying your eyes out while driving down the backroads at the street light flicker overhead
I do hope y'all give the new single "Punish" a listen, (while it's still a relevant topic.) "Sun Bleached Flies" is the second to last song on the album, (Hayden has described "Strangers" as a bit of a tonal/thematic epilogue to the narrative, so there is a case to be made that this song is the final song on the album. Likewise, the album is bookended by what she considers the tonal/thematic prelude to the album, "Family Tree (Intro)".) That said, this performance, (they did four songs there--"A House In Nebraska;" "Thoroughfare;" "Crush"*; "Sun Bleached Flies",) is stripped down but not fully "unplugged," but pretty close.
Ethel is so talented live but I feel like certain parts hit harder with the studio version for this song (like hearing the voice layering / choir sounding parts)
My hot take is that the studio recordings are so much better than these lives................. you're missing so much production that makes these songs come to life
I would definitely listen to the studio recording as well. The addition of the sax and the organ and the production in general adds so much.
they must
@@mackenziespeer5696 Yeah this was NOT the one to listen to live imo 🤣

I ALWAYS KNEW IN THE END NO ONE WAS COMING TO SAVE SO I JUST PRAYED AND I KEEP PRAYIN AND PRAYIN AND PRAYINNNN
IF IT'S MEANT TO BE THEN IT WILL BE, I FORGIVE IT ALL AS IT COMES BACK TO ME
