With regards to housing, many of what are being built now, were planned 18/20 years ago. I remember going to a public viewing of proposed housing locally. Only 10 % of each estate built, is allocated for social housing. Labour have said they are going to not only build brown field sites, but now looking at grey field sites. It’s easy to find what comes under those places, online. If each housing estate has 1.500k properties, each one having at least one car. Even if only half of them have to leave the estate in rush hour traffic. The roads are going to be even more congested. Locally, there are at least 8 new estates, in the surrounding town. It’s frightening how many there are. The original plan, was for each estate to have its own, shops, school, doctors etc. None have been built with that in mind.
So if the French rescued , why weren't they taken back to Calais.
