Currently up north in BC but I live in the north bay, right across the golden gate. I know it’s been over 90 F the last week but just 15minutes south to San Francisco it’s literally 30 F cooler 😅 we all drive into San Fran to avoid the excessive heat haha

OMG, that airport book shelf has some bangers. Women of Good Fortune is on my TBR from the library, because of your earlier recommendation.
I would have gotten Crying in H-Mart even though I'm not sure I have the emotional fortitude to read it again.
Kevin Kwan, as you know, is an instant buy author for me. (I'm reading his newest book, and there's already a murder on page 7, and it gets better from there.)
Loveboat, Taipei is a nice book, but a bit more YA than I'm usually into these days. I know there's a sequel. too. Plus, a friend of mine is friends with the author, so I definitely have to tell people to support the author's work if they think the genre is for them. Did that sticker say there's going to be a series!? I'm gonna have to watch that.
I also picked up the Noh Family on a whim when I was watching some K-dramas and wanted books like that. And I'd say that it really does read like a K-drama in book form. It was good fun.
Ok, and beyond that. Earthlings by Sayaka Murata is... a lot. Things that would get a video demonetized to talk about. Look up trigger warnings, folks. But if your friend likes horror story type content, then I'm sure she'll love the book. If you want a book by the same author that has some similar themes about how capitalism sucks and stuff- read Convenience Store Woman. That one didn't scar me for life and has a lot of stuff to make a person think about.
I'm also so happy for you to get publisher merch. That's amazing! But I think Figgy is jealous of your books... or maybe cats just don't need a reason to misbehave. haha Glad you had a good vacation!

I loved "Intimacies" but I think it's a book for a very specific audience. To be exact: an audience who experienced the gutting loneliness that comes with living far away from home in a country where you don't speak the language and the culture is much colder in general than what you're used to. Even though you know other languages, you don't know the local one. You only catch glimpses and you struggle really hard to grasp something that will keep the loneliness at bay. I recommend approaching it with empathy. If you're struggling to understand the character's actions, don't disregard it as bad writing (as some online reviews have). It's actually painfully accurate in portraying such an experience (I speak from personal experience).

Maybe in the future 😊 Dude, I had never been tempted to get a Nendoroid until the Kenma one came out and I was so mad cus I was still in Korea then and couldn't justify the cost 😭 Fast forward 3 years later and I noticed the price for him had only gone up by like $4 and I was working so actually had money lol I bought him and he's so cute he has a little Kuroo black cat accessory ♥️ Then a friend of mine got me the jersey outfit Hinata Nendoroid so they could be friends and it's the cutest thing ahhhh I never watched season 4 cus I was going through life stuff at the time, but maybe I should rewatch the series or actually read the manga 🤣

hi Tia, do you speak another language? I am learning Spanish and German. what helps is having the library with books in another language. I check English and Spanish then read one chapter of each back to back.
