I have this lens and love it!!! Its an amazing lens. I originally wanted to purchase the Sony Zeiss 24-70m but when my camera salesman showed me this Zeiss Loxia 50mm f/2 lens, I immediately fell in love with it and purchased it immediately. This is a pure Zeiss lens- not a Sony Zeiss so you're getting an amazing piece of glass. I paired it with my new Sony A7ii and love it. :)
Handful of Spades AWESOME. Let me know how they work out for you on the FS7. I would love to see some sample footage, and/or the work you create with them!
It goes without saying that I'm very much looking forward to that full review of the loxia 50mm, preferably compared to the 55mm. I realize of course that you're probably busy and all, but it has been some time now, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who anxious. Anyway, when you do get around to a round of proper testing, I'd like to see some focus on the photography aspect, and not so much on the videography aspect, not that I think you're the type, but I'm new to the channel. Furthermore, I'm very much interested in what the a7s loxia combo can achieve in low light conditions, should you get the opportunity. Until then, best regards.
Thanks for the comments Felix! I have been trying to get my hands on a 55mm, but at this point I have yet to justify the expense of renting or buying one. My only complaint with the Loxia is the lack of autofocus, though I knew what I was getting into when I purchased it. Stay tuned, as I will be heading to Cape Town, South Africa this coming week and will be using the Loxia extensively with image samples for you to peruse on my site!
I’m using the 55mm f1.8 on the Sony A7 II and I’m more than happy with the results, how would you compare it to the zeiss loxia 50mm f/2? I’m not a professional, I just do it for fun.
35 or 50mm Loxia as your first lens? Street, everyday use and landscape and so on. How about wide angle? Loxia 21mm or Batis 18mm or Batis 25mm? Which is too wide which is too narrow, which is can be use in most case? Do I need to consider to use it in normal situation that I don't shoot wide? How does 25mm compare to 35mm, 25mm top wide to use as everyday lens?
Damn, today is May 12th, but B&H and Adorama still don't have this lens in stock, this lens is currently sold everywhere in China at a much cheaper price tag...
jqueryrocks Tell me about it. I had one preordered on B&H for about 2 months before I found the one I ended up purchasing off a reputable dealer on eBay. Now there are a bunch of listings on eBay for Loxia lenses, just make sure you buy from a highly rated dealer and you'll be fine. It's a terrific lens!
Thomas Ooi Well, only two months went by and now my prayers have been answered. I will be sure to do a review on the Zeiss Batis lens lineup for the Sony Alpha series when they arrive this summer. Stay tuned, I can't wait!

Ordered both the new Loxia 35mm f2 and the 50mm f2, can't wait to try them out on my new FS7.

How would this be on the FS5 do you think? - I guess it would translate to 75mm on APS-C. Looking for an interview lens with nice bokah.
+kipling1957 Loxia would be incredible on FS5, incredible bokeh (even for f/2). You won't be disappointed.
+Kelley Barry thanks!
Image samples from the Zeiss Loxia 50mm f/2 can be found at the link below!

Hwhy not try holding the topmost in screwing it, or does it move too?
How is the close focusing distance?
I would like to know how is this lens compare with the Zeiss FE 55mm f1.8 Sonnar T*.
Unfortunately I do not have access to the 55mm 1.8. I will be sure to do a review if I get my hands on one in the future.
How is the focus breathing for video?
raredreamfootage Excellent! No complaints.
Still waiting for a small lightweight native 24mm f1.4/2 lens for the A7S :(
You and I both Thomas! I would love an ultra-wide angle prime w/ autofocus option for the Alpha series.

Pentax WR-lenses have the ring....
You've never seen a lens with a rubber gasket?
Nope.
