Why is it racistic? It was made as a joke and even most of "lappalaiset" thought it was funny. Why remove it now, its a part of history and an important part of finnish comedy.
@@tommiturunen8144 Considering that you're using a term about the Sámi that is considered derogative, I doubt your sources about how they felt about this is accurate. Why is this racist, you ask? In a nutshell, because they're punching down, making fun of an oppressed minority and enforcing negative stereotypes. This is humor by Finns, for Finns, all the while Finns were (and still are) oppressing the Sámi. I was a kid when this was aired. Yes, I laughed along with my family back then as we watched this together. So did a lot of other kids, and these skits were quoted on the school back yard. I did not know much about the Sámi beyond these skits. Every Sámi I have ever heard mention these skits hates them and is sick and tired of even hearing them. My fond childhood memory of a show I used to like has become an embarrassment, but that's okay. I simply did not know better. I do know now, and I'm not laughing anymore either. What I *do* think is that these videos are important from a historical point of view, to show us how insensitive comedy used to be and how minorities have been oppressed also through comedy, as "a joke". But these should not be shared as a part of a nostalgic "oh, comedy used to be so much better" collection. They should come with appropriate commentaries. It is also important to note that Pirkka-Pekka Petelius apologized to the Sámi for making these skits, and admitted that he would not do them again.
