They need to change the law to allow statute of limitations timeline changes. The same thing with people who finally get the courage to report SA. However often that too is past the legal deadline and nothing can then be done. No matter if it's on tape. Some laws should be changed to protect those harmed.

The reason we have statutes of limitations is because our justice system can barely handle all of the stuff it needs to handle now. If you could prosecute every crime that ever happened in existence, with no statute of limitation, the system would come crashing down because it couldn’t handle all of that. You have to have time limits on things because we don’t have enough time humans or resources to prosecute every crime or criminal that has ever existed.

So what is the statue of limitation for a crime committed?
Every crime has a different statute of limitations. Murder has no statute of limitations. Also statutes depend on the state law as well as federal. Google up a whole bunch of different crimes and you’ll see how all of them have different statutes of limitations.
I think it's now 5 years for crimes like this. Seems dumb.
