0:34 good idea. I was just getting ready film something similar. You may have saved me a little bit of time. Plus the counters on the map and the whole map. Thank you.
I have visited Vicksburg several times over the years. The city fell on 4 July, Independence Day. Independence Day was not celebrated in the city until World War 2.
Really looking forward to getting this soon but I suspect it'll take a while to cross the pond... A really nice overview of the campaign, I'm yet to learn how if unfolded but this game should be a great tool to help me learn t he campaign...
Great video as always 👍. I've just finished reading 'Vicksburg: Grant's Campaign that Broke the Confederacy' by Donald L Miller - thought it was excellent.
Found your channel and have just watched a load of your older videos. Like you, I was a middle- high schooler during the golden age of boxed war games. I spent so many days running to a game store and saving for the next Avalon Hill or other. AH was my favorite for the boards weren’t paper. I would love to get back into the hobby after all these years but struggle with the idea of being solitaire. I do play some computer games but there aren’t many for my genre which is AWI through 1900. Any expert opinions on alternative computer gaming in those periods or how to play actual board war games online with others? I know you mention a site but when I looked into it the user friendly aspect for a newcomer was not there. Welcome ideas and thank you.
Hello, I'm glad you enjoy the videos, I enjoy making them. you actually have a couple of options. It depends on what you were looking for if you want to play a strict computer game, which is both strategy and kind of a war game. There is a company that does all kinds of strategy war games they used to be called HPS, but if since change their name. There is another incredible program out there called Vassal out there and it is free. With vessel, you can play nearly every board wargame out there on your computer and you can play them by email or live. This is how I play some of the big games that take hours and hours to play and I don't really have time to play them in one setting. Just key in VASSAL in a Google search engine and you should have no trouble finding it.
Thanks. I have a few of the computer games but the graphics and game play can be painful. As for vassal, I checked it out before but couldn’t figure out how to play it he system?
Your videos always look top notch, but the sound quality sounds like you're in a 100 foot long hallway. Maybe upgrade the microphone or maybe move closer to it? It would be great to hear what these great videos are trying to convey.
I get a few comments on the sound level being low but I'm at my wits end to discover what is wrong. I purchased a high quality 'Blue Yeti' microphone and yet I still get comments about the sound volume. It is plugged directly into the ipad (which is what I used to record) and the gain is a full volume and I speak less about 10" from the microphone itself. If anybody has any solutions I'm listening. I have done the recordings on 3 different Ipads and one Canon camera. No change.
I could look at the maps on some of these games for hours! Need to lay it out when reading Tim Smiths books!
Getting it to the table this weekend. Thanks for the video and reading recommendation. Cheers.
Tim Smith has written a handful of good books on the Vicksburg Campaign. He’s very good.
Sound is fine; glad you're back

Well done. I just received my copy a few days ago.
Gilbert, I sent you a message on BGG regarding this game.
Thanks for the video, Gilbert. I missed you.
This game interests me because my Great Great Uncle died at The Battle Of Champions Hill while serving with the 24th Indiana Vol. Inf. under Hovey.
Enjoyed your very well done initial overview of this latest acquisition.
Thanks for the Frist Look. I'm still waiting for my copy here over the pond.

Have you played the Clash of Arms version of V-burg (Mississippi Fortress)? If so, how do they compare?
I had both "Mississippi Fortress" and the "Atlanta Campaign" game too, but ultimately I didn't keep them.
@@XLEGION1 Did Mississippi Fortress seem ‘realistic’? Was it more simple? More playable?
@@lousheehan9825 Just too simple for me and I didn't feel I was simulating anything.
@@XLEGION1 Thank you.
Where can you get this game? Is it possible to post a link?
Go to the Mulit-Man Publishers site. They are the manufacturer. I don't know how to put a link here.
thank you sir
Thought I clicked on a Calendale video

He's just recording in his stately Gentleman's Wargaming Hallway!
