Mad respect to trucking accountant for actually keeping it real & diving into deep of the true cost of expenses & challenges of trucking where most other youtubers are just salesman trying to sell a dream/lifestyle saying how much money they make from trucking.

Having a trucking company is no joke. Most drivers that come from larger companies think that buying a truck and opening their own business, just because they have a cdl and want to pocket the majority of the money, is a piece of cake and don't take into consideration the skills needed to run and manage a trucking company even if it's owner operated with no additional drivers or leased owner operators. I have owned a trucking company for 12 years. I have expanded the fleet size and reduced several times according to the market needs. It's a very stressful business, but kudos to you for at least trying it out and being transparent about your journey. Just came across your channel and have been enjoying the content. I am always interested to see how fellow logistics entrepreneurs and bookkeepers think about the subject. Thanks for the content.

@@lilianarivera3742 I have a 24ft international 2018 box truck and have carried 11 loads this year. Those 11 loads were the only loads that paid $2 per mile. I will not haul freight for free and at the rates being offered that is the only outcome of loads paying barely $1.40 per mile. Dont even think of going to Amazon with your box truck because even though they too pay next to nothing their load rates have dropped as well. It's bad out here folks but I saved my money because I always knew in my heart days like these were coming. I know several brokers who have said their in-house drivers are quitting left and right because of drops on pay. Hang in there folks.

@@outreachvideo I have, or at this point, had 53 foot reefers and 48 foot flatbeds. I have sold all my equipment (trucks and trailers) and only work with owner ops at this point. I only work with those that understand the market and it's ups and downs, those who are dedicated and willing to be flexible. I do much more than dispatching, as I manage their entire operation as well as yearly renewals. I am basically their personal assistant handling all the back office work while they drive. I have been on the broker side of things as well as have had direct accounts with shippers and as previously mentioned, had my own fleet with drivers until just a week ago. Amazon is one of those things I always advise against. And, yes, I agree... the rates at this point are worthy of just parking the truck. But, there are some owners ops that are so invested that they just can't park and call it quits. They have to work through it. And those are the ones I am here for. They have no option but to keep truckin. I really do hope the best for all of those out there struggling and hope that those wanting to get in the business really do all their research. Truckin just isn't for everyone. Interesting that, even though with this market as it is, people still call me for assistance in opening trucking companies.
