  • Go Gardening Show Episode 8 brings you a look at how you can create a beautiful landscape in a small yard space and gives you a tour at Shades of Green Nursery with excellent suggestions for your fall planting plans.
The Go Gardening team met up with sought-after landscape designer Brian Hough at his new garden home. Brian moved from a third of an acre landscape (a masterpiece in our estimation) to a smaller home. His love of native plants and well thought out design were still evident even with a smaller canvas for him to work with. One great element of this segment is getting Brian's thoughts on why he used the plants he did and how they all work together to create a "not too formal, but inherently beautiful native Texas landscape."
Next, Go Gardening visited Shades of Green Nursery off of Sunset Rd. Our host, Mark Peterson, took us on a tour of this shady, relaxing slice of plant heaven with a focus on the idea of "fall is for planting." Mark showed us his favorite native plants, shrubs and a few trees that we all should consider using in our own landscapes. At the end of the tour, he talks about how to use of organic fertilizers, compost and mulch as we get ready to plant this fall.
Go Gardening's mission is to help people conserve water in the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers by teaching homeowners how to convert turfgrass areas to low-to-no water use landscapes featuring native plants.
