I had a friend who put 60 seconds worth of music to a sugar crisp commercial in the 1970s and bought a house with the royalties that kept coming for a couple years because the commercial was played a lot. He wrote the music and someone else wrote the lyrics. I can’t imagine how much money Paul Anka made for the Johnny Carson theme song. The following from 1995. Remember, when they are talking about this money, they are talking about the 1960s when the minimum wage was about $1.20 an hour and A $400,000 house today could be purchased for $12,000. “The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson” theme, co-written by Carson and Paul Anka, is said to have earned $400 in royalties for the two writers each time the show aired--almost every weeknight for 30 years. Carson declined to provide a figure, but if the rumor is right, it could add up to as much as $3 million.
@@beatzclinic2043 I went to Berklee i only went to be certified but not necessarily the I learned how to engineer and produce before I went to school for it and I was in band so but learning your craft and how to mix and engineer and wat plug-ins do what and how to manipulate then but learn ur craft uf u wanna take it a extra step go to school but I learned everything from being in major studio learning from producers and RUclips before I decide to go to school
@@Producer-3RdEye Congratulations on finishing school and thanks for reaching out. On my list is to visit Some local studios where I can pick the producers brain While making beats in front of them. I think I’ll learn a lot that way. It’s extremely difficult to learn anything from RUclips because most videos are too long and trying to sell you something for me.

I feel you but listen to what he said 7:38.. he kinda leased it to Taco Bell for a month and a half, then he went back to owning it again. If he were to give it away (exclusive) the bag would be way different in price. So 30 seconds for 6 weeks, you collect about $5k plus royalties in the backend (lord knows how much they’ll play your art; just imagine like a SuperBowl or shows that rerun all the time type placement) and you keep your art too
This is the real bread and butter for all producers, MORE OF THIS!
im focusing more on sync placements as im doing type beats, and this is wayyy more profitable and easier to make a living
Great interview. Super down-to-earth guy. I love how Josh and his wife helped each other thrive. "Why don't you make music from home?" 🤔 BOOM!!! lol

Can recording artists get this opportunity same as the producers?
To my understanding yes. In one of J Wills talks he talked about how Lizzo blew up from a synch placement
