NIGHTWISH, THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD. PERIOD.
Floor makes a lot of dramatic entrances to the stage, but I think Dark Chest of Wonders '13 is one of my favorites, where Marco and Empuu cross paths at the center of the stage, and Floor walks out perfectly between them.
seen this performance many times, but never noticed this lovely detail, thank you 👌
With all those fire, lights and running through stage they were trying to hide Floor's portal.
there's a perfect word to describe the band , NIGHTWISH.

Great to see you back on the nightwish train. It’s eargasams to the soul! The layers upon layers built by Tuomas and it’s sooo addicting. I just can’t get enough of this band. Doesn’t matter hearing songs for the 24th time or 167th. They’re this good 👍

Floor was only with the band for about 10 months at this point so this is the first time seeing her with Nightwish for a lot of people that were used to Anette.
I always think about the good old Prince of Persia- game when I listen to Sahara 🤣
The basswork from Marko is just so filthy, especially at 17:24 . Damn that was delicious! And Floor is so g*d damn attractive when she sings 😄
Coming back to Nightwish after a while .... it's always astonishing and breathtaking how good they really are ... again and again.
NW is just next level and in a class of their own.

Tuomas on keys in Sahara is sublime. He rarely takes centre stage when he plays yet his work is superb
There is only one bad thing about that Dark Chest of Wonders video: the applause is cut off! :D But for good reason too, because right after this, without any warning, the band plays I Wish I Had an Angel, which just makes together one unbelievable power combo!
The song Sahara has a special place in my heart: for some reason it tends to pop up in my head when I ride my bike for hours on long roads. I guess it correctly captures a vibe of caravans traveling through the deserts of Middle East. The rhythm almost symbolizes steps, slow progression towards the destination.
Now THAT's how to open a show! And Floor said she was nervous in front of 82,000 people! Hardly shows, does it?

Dark Chest of Wonders is also the opening track on their album "Once" (2004). I think it's a nice little detail that this very first song starts (only studio version) with whispered words: *Once* I had a dream, and this is it.. ✨

Dark Chest of Wonders is really the perfect show opener and really a lovely cup of condensed Nightwish nectar 😍 (there are a few other songs I feel the same about, like Pan and Shudder Before The Beautiful)
Dark Passion Play-album has many overlooked gems like Sahara, there isn't much live material from that album out there, which is a shame.
For example For The Heart I once Had is one of Anettes best studio work, in my humble opinion.

@TanjaJKO Have to agree - For the Heart I Once Had is soooo good, Anette really shines on that one, it's just perfect for her voice. It would also be nice to see a reaction to Meadows of Heaven, another perfect example how good Anette can be 😊

Super reaction! In Sahara there is a wonderful little bass riff (about 6 seconds) that Marko adds at around 17:22 in this video. I picked up on it the first time I heard this song and started listing for something similar in other songs, but have not heard anything like it. It blew me away, and became my favorite part of this performance; even though all the band members did a superb job.

Other two are "Shudder Before The Beautiful" and the latest one, "Noise "🤘😍🤘.
"Sahara" is a real gem of a song (originally sung by Anette), and Tuomas Smile : "yes, we are going heavy again " 👌😁.

Sahara - in my opinion a criminally underrated song from them. So fu**ing good!

What a kick-butt way to start a concert.
My appreciation for Marko's singing just took a jump at the last note... his head voice is such a great compliment to anything that Floor sings.
(AND, btw, his bass playing goes from that mega-thunk in the plodding-portion, to a jazzy, almost fretless sound later in one of the mellower bits.... not bad, for a metalhead!!)
It'd be fun to find out what mega-pedal Troy was using. (or maybe it was something like a Kemper floor-model?)
eBows can be a blast to play, especially with an intelligent pitch shifter, as a method for creating pads from a guitar neck.

It's a Boss GT 10, an old out of production multieffect pedal. The new one should be the Boss GT 100, very similar shape.
Sahara is one of my favourites! I love it the way Floor is singing it, but I love Anette's version the same! ❤ you should check it out, too (live in Serbia for example). A good song is a good song!
Sahara- one of Nightwish's most underrated songs, IMO....ESPECIALLY this performance of it!

Not blibbering my friend. It is hard to put into words how an incredible performance hits you. Sahara is one of my favorites. I love the Middle eastern harmonic minor feel. Especially love Floor Arabic chanting towards the end. I wanted it to keep going for 32 more bars. I could picture the harem girls dancing away. Loved it Thomas. Be well. Peace out.

It's been a while - great reaction as always - what hits home about this one is that reactors old or new and from all walks of life have mostly said the same, in that they felt immersed and that they were actually there! I know I told you before (I think?!) that between Nightwish and Babymetal got me through some tough times, not only the Pandemic but also my Uncle's death of Covid. Awesome! Both are great songs. If you're looking for older stuff, one song that I never see reactors check out is "Wanderlust" off their 2000 album Wishmaster. It is definitely more of their older style but I think you would really enjoy it and have an interesting perspective on it. Also a livestream would be great!

well after watching i can tell you that i am not disappointed in the slightest. DCoW is an awesome song but it rarely makes my playlists because its usually just edged out by other NW songs. that said, its one of the most "nightwish-y" nightwish songs and it rocks.
sahara, though, im SO glad you did sahara. its one of my fave live performances from them, and anette sings it awesomely in the studio recording as well - i think youll love it. troys guitar playing in the song reminds of me his playing in the end of devil and the deep dark ocean (buenos aires). he plays what i can only describe as like raid sirens.
speaking of sirens, i recommend The Siren live from end of an era. tarja kills it. glad you enjoyed these songs!

It's been so long Tom, so long.
Love both of those songs. By all means, over-analyze whatever you like. I don't live in Finland (wish I did) so I couldn't see any of NW concerts during this year. Damn you, Covid. So when I'm not listening to my favourite bands by myself or with my friends, I watch them also on YT by some of the YT reactors. A kind of shared experience, like being at the concert with other fans.
Tuomas loves his Metallica, it was one of the first metal bands he listened to and Sahara riffs do sound a bit like something from their discography. That and the Led Zeppelinesque strings. All that wrapped in a nice Finnish symphonic metal with a blue-and-white bow on top.
By the way, I have accidentally left automatic subtitles on while watching your video and Emppu's name is captioned as "emperor"... hmm, interesting. All power to the EV1, Emppoi!
