Also my favorite scene. I think Talia Shire doesn’t get nearly enough credit for her importance to this franchise. I honestly think that part of it is how properly understated she plays her role, and the other part is that her acting is so strong that one can forget she’s playing a character. She’s so expertly playing a person who is dismissed by everyone (except Rocky of course) that we tend to dismiss her as an audience.
@@stevesheroan4131I especially loved her scene with Stallone in Rocky 3, where they are on the beach and she's trying to get him to admit his feelings after losing to Mr. T's character, Clubber Lang. It was very emotional and beautiful at the same time.
Hands down. My favourite scene is when Apollos trainer Duke tries to persuade him to forget a rematch with Balboa. “I know how you feel….let it go. Let it go!!!”. 😊
Adrian: Do something for me? Rocky: What? Adrian: Win. Rocky: What?! Adrian: Win! Mickey: WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?!?! That scene gives me goosebumps every single time I've watched it.
I recently revisited the original films as a way to pay tribute to Carl Weathers, and was reminded of just how good the second film is, neck and neck with the original. Apollo was definitely a great character, and so was the man who played him.
I don’t really know how many others feel but Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) was my favorite character from the Rocky movies. He just reminded me of Muhammad Ali with his taunting and talk that he could back up in the ring and in Rocky 2, It showed Apollo in a different light with him in his home setting and business office and really gave Carl the chance to shine as an actor. For this reason Rocky 2 is one of my all time favorite movies. R.I.P. Carl Weathers.
Thanks for this one! Being of Italian heritage, and living most of my life in the shadows of Philadelphia, this story as a whole is as prolific as say the original Star wars films. That's not to call them a big event, but more to say they were as present as the air in my lungs. They just were always there. Although, it was really with the third installment that I really got all in. Between the combined soundtracks of both Three and Four, to this day I can loose myself in the energy and inspiration. Mr. Weathers was an immense part of that journey, and brought endless amounts of class, and cool to every performance. May he rest peacefully, and may his family be comforted in the amazing gifts he shared with us all.
I love that you are now going into the video store to "check it out" 😊 I'm now at an age where the famous people of my youth are beginning to die more frequently, unfortunately. A sad time indeed, may you rest in peace, Mr. Weathers xx
@Skarrz72 His name is Joe Spinell and he played Lt. Munafo in Nighthawks. He had a falling out with Stallone while filming Nighthawks. He was also in The Godfather” Died by accident when he cut himself on his shower door at home in Queens, Ny and his hemophilia caused him to bleed to death.
@@rampantdonkey1780 no mate, you’re “so wrong” 😆 The image Minty has used in the time stamp I have given is of actor Milo Ventimiglia. He is in things like the TV series ‘Heroes’ and most recently ‘This Is Us’.
@@rampantdonkey1780Actually he is one of Stallone's sons and he is autistic. He was the focus of a cover story " Sly's silent son " and how Stallone had to face that he would never be able to reach him. Stallone has him in the care of the best doctors to this day.
I love the humor of Rocky 2, the scenes where he is trying to do the ads and keeps messing up the lines really crack me up. Great job writing, acting and directing from Sly. Love your videos Minty!!
One of 3 movies that made me tear up at the end. "Ive seen you beat this man...like ive never seen you beat a man before.... And this man kept Coming After You!!" Great line.
When I sit down to watch the Rocky movies, I always watch the first and second movies back to back as one long movie. These two movies are my favorites, along with Rocky Balboa. I really like how these three movies really looked at the character of Rocky and truly brought this character to life.
R.I.P Carl Weathers from Rocky 1-4, Predator 1, Happy Gilmore, Little Nicky, Season 7 and 8 of In The Heat Of The Night, and season 1-3 Mandorlorean Star Wars show, And Action Jackson film.
- "I won, but I didn't _beat_ him"! - A similar discord/row supposedly happened between Weathers and Dolph Lundgren while making Rocky 4. - My personal favorite role of Carl is that of GREEF KARGA; RIP 😞😑
I asked Carl on social media how he got in such great shape for films like Rocky and Predator and he replied “train, train, train and eat smart!” I also have a signed picture of him from Predator which I’m proud of. Legend.
The best thing about the Rocky films is the evolution of multiple characters, which you don't see a lot of in sequels that weren't part of a planned saga. Apollo's intensity in part 2 is captivating. You want Rocky to win but you feel compelled to cheer for Apollo a little.
That’s how we did it in the 70s, I had that poster on my wall for years and I always just look at old Rocky in the letter Y and you knew what it was all about.
I think the movie poster ever since I was a child was the coolest and most smartest way to advertise a movie sequel! The mystery in wondering of what's going to happen next leaves you in utter suspense
here's one; Rocky proposed to Adrian at the Zoo, foreshadowed in the first movie, when the driver suggested he take her there on their first date. That was a funny scene in the first.
Actually one of my favorite Rocky movies. It follows the footsteps of the original with Drama, Motivation, Action, Grit, and a bit of comedy but it alot less over the top and more believable than the later films.
I'm 52 now, but I was 8 when this movie was released. I was so excited to see this sequel. Carl Weathers, you were apart of my childhood and you will always be Apollo Creed to me. R.I.P.
Back in the day I first saw Rocky II in the cinema and loved it so much that as soon as Rocky 1 was available again in the movie theaters, had to see it. Been a big fan of the Rocky saga (and of Sylvester Stallone) ever since… I think everyone including myself, was working out to the Rocky theme music, lol.
The Rocky movies are the greatest movie franchise ever. Rocky 2 was just the right formula to follow the original Rocky movie and still keep the audience wanting more.
What can you say...IMHO one of the best movies period...whenever you see it you don't change the channel... A little piece of us is missing after Mr. Weathers passing... Will Miss These Times
I absolutely ❤️LOVE❤️ the Grip Machine getting the movie outta the stuffed animal bin!! *also* Dig the editing so it looks like you got it on the first try.😅
Rest in peace Carl Weathers (1948-2024)
He was a great talker.
He will be missed by many.
I still can't believe it. Rip Carl Weathers 🙏
You're only as good as your villain! RIP CW❤
It's all in the hips... it's all in the hips!
“Man I won but I didn’t beat him!”
RIP Carl, incredible charisma he brought to the role
“Let it go! Let it go…..you’re the champ!!!”.
“Rocky do you have anything derogatory to say about the champ?”
“Derogatory? Yeah he’s great”
I came here to say this. That's my favorite scene from any of the Rocky movies.
Gazo: How's about investing in condominiums? It's safe.
Rocky Balboa: Condominiums?
Gazo: Yeah, condominiums.
Rocky Balboa: I never use 'em.
I've always preferred using a diagram over a condominium.
😂
Lol I didn’t get that joke when I first watched it as a child
I use condomaximums
I always believed Carl Weathers deserved a Best Supporting Oscar nod for this movie.
Agreed
The best scene was when Adrian says “Win”. Then Mick chimes in with “What are we waiting for?” Chilling!
Get's me every time and I've see this a lot.
Absolutely. I love that part.

“Just keep punchin’, Apollo.”
Rocky 2 was another masterpiece. One that will never be duplicated.
I think the whole series is incredible, right through the Creed movies. Ok not Rocky V, but the rest all have that special something.

How about a Carl Weathers retrospective?
R.I.P!
RIP Carl Weathers Rocky Is One Of My Favorite franchises of all time
I always loved how Mick stayed with Rocky when Adrian was in hospital very touching
He loves Rocky as a son
She was recovering from a "pet shop disease"
Almost makes up for what he did in the first one
Apollo creed retired more men than social security 😂😂
Watched it recently and still a personal favourite of mine when it comes to Rocky
Carl Weathers was great and I’m sure we’ll all miss him
Adrian: Do something for me?
Rocky: What?
Adrian: Win.
Rocky: What?!
Adrian: Win!
Mickey: WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?!?!
That scene gives me goosebumps every single time I've watched it.
Most blood pumping scene in movie history!!! Nuff said
You. Forgot “Take this”
"Ain't gonna be no rematch."
"Don't want one."
RIP Carl Weathers. Nailed it in every role I saw him in. Legend. Thank you highlighting him, Minty. You’re the best, man!
Apollo was a great character perfectly played by Weathers. Even though he's the antagonist, he's not actually a bad or malicious guy.
I recently revisited the original films as a way to pay tribute to Carl Weathers, and was reminded of just how good the second film is, neck and neck with the original. Apollo was definitely a great character, and so was the man who played him.

Rocky: Absolutely.

That was some great trivia from the film. I wondered if there was more to the story of why Adrian stayed home, and now I know!
RIP Carl Weathers.

My son is named Apollo because of Apollo Creed. RIP Apollo, I'll never forget you.

Thank you Minty for this! Rest in Peace Carl Weathers!

Nice tribute to Carl Weathers. Well done, sir!
Rockys name is Robert....Rocky Jr even says his name is Robert in Rocky V and Rocky Balboa
True.
5:33 that’s not Sylvester Stallone’s son, that’s Milo Ventimiglia who played Rocky’s son Robert in ‘Rocky Balboa’ and ‘Creed II’
😂 so wrong 😂 it was Stallones son Seargeoh Stallone
