This is why good leadership in government is so important

This could very well start a downward spiral of the city that doesn't stop. Better hope it doesn't become Detroit!

Downtown is abandoned , the buildings are mostly empty expensive monoliths to a long gone era of vanished industry. US Steel sold off to foreigners , Japan 's final victory over America 's loss of World War Two .

Sounds like the building values weren inflated from the jump amd the pandemic shed light on it. Downtown Pittsburgh hasnt been bustling for a long time and values were propped up based on the past and "potential" You know things are getting out of hand of McDonald's leaves a piece of property

They can cut checks all they want but it won't go to any of the workers!!! Like the cleaners downtown. We work very hard to make sure the buildings are clean and in working order and we break our backs for these buildings and not get any of that money.

Yes because biden wants to make millionaires pay more taxes where as trump does not. So yeah we need blue! Biden said it best when he said its ridiculous that millionaires pay less taxes than a a fire man or a police man. Trump doesn't give a crap at all! Trump was president when the pandemic started and thats exactly when downtown Pittsburgh went to crap. Trump cares for no one but himself. Anyone who thinks he cares about them is a fool. A poor fool at that.

They are not worth whY they once were. Gateway alone isn't worth the amount it used to be. They can't even sell the buildings like they wanna do. Thwycalready sold building 3, they been trying to sell the rest of them buildings for years now. Noone will bite on them. It's to much money and work needed

Why should they get some of the money when the middle and lower classes don't get anything when something like this when it happens to them

The city and PPS are gonna have to live within the new reality. PPS has capacity for 40,000 students yet only serves 20,000. They MUST realign attendance boundaries and CLOSE BUILDINGS! If the board won't make tough decisions, the state will take over.

Done by design. Bring the value down over the years by not taking care of the area. Now they'll resell it to an investment group so they can make apartments or condos out of them. Rebuild the area and raise the prices. Greed is gettting real.

Most of this space is wasted. Huge hallways where you can see one or two people at most, huge meeting rooms sitting empty with the lights on day or night, huge bathrooms. This is not about creating a space for people to function. No value, no buyer! Looks like the market is still able to self-regulate.
