  • Sky News host Chris Kenny says the path to renewables Labor, the Greens and the teals want Australia to stay on will “lead to power, chaos and shortages”.
Mr Kenny says the push to renewable energy and the way it “simply does not work” is playing out in two countries that are especially close to Australia.
“In the UK the Labour Party that is certain to form government after the election … is promising to ban any future gas exploration in the North Sea,” Mr Kenny said.
“The Kiwis have already gone down that path, and even though they have stacks of hydro and don’t rely on fossil fuels for a huge share of their power - their shambolic experience shows that banning gas exploration is a disaster”.

    Yep
This is the labor governments pathway it's taking Australia down ...
The longer the debate goes on about Australia having Nuclear Reactors constructed to replace our retiring coal fuelled power stations on the same land holdings of the retiring coal power stations.
The longer Australia will be in black outs after the labor government renewable plan fails to provide the energy requirements leaving manufacturing to a holt cease production & many homes without lights or cooling & heating ..
The quicker the Nuclear Reactor plan is adopted & construction begins the sooner Australia can meet the net zero emissions target & Australia have a working energy system capable of powering the entire energy needs of Australia 24/7 with its current population & the expected Australian population size for the next 75 years after the reactor is switched on ..
I don't think the modelling for labor government plan can supply 24/7 power with Australia's current population let alone the expected population growth of Australia over 75 years ..
Did they even put the growth of population into their modelling plan for renewable energy ..the higher the population the higher the amount of usable energy will be needed..

They have definite plans for six, starting in 2027, and have floated the idea of another eight. These will be needed to replace the aging and problematic plants that have already passed their use by date.
At a cost of at least 10B euros each. After Flamanville, I wonder if the budget will blow out, and the build time. They may not see any energy from these new reactors before 2040.

Forget the side panels idea, Renewables are inefficient and costly, full stop, they are prone to storm damage and require high & expensive maintenance on a regular basis, also need another 28,000 kms of expensive high voltage grid infrastructure they dont factor the price in for because they subsidise it by billions of dollars, requires large areas for low density, unstable, unreliable, intermittent power that requires more $18 Billion dollar pumped hydro dams and more expensive grid infrastructure to act as a short term low density storage battery for the thousands of acres of wind and solar destroying farming and protected native species national parks and environmental land sites with chunks of concrete that needs dynamite to remove, all the while we up gas production for overseas while banning it in Victoria and giving away over half of what gas we produce for free but still pay the highest gas & electricity prices in the world.
Being the second greenest country in the world we feel a duty to export millions of tonnes of CO2 producing coal & fossil fuels overseas to offset our .04 of 1% overall CO2 emissions, so you could conclude we are actually well below net zero because we send it offshore to be released as a major global CO2 contributor instead, but at 440ppm it is the lowest in the planets history & the plants and coral reefs are thriving.
The climate change narrative and net zero is a big evil money laundering scam that will destroy our economy, culture and electrical grid supply in one hit.
Nuclear is the go, but gas &/or coal are fine.

Anybody else see the new announcement by Elon Musk of Megapack 3? - grid scale battery packs that plug directly into the HV power network, reducing or eliminating the need for substations?
It's that sort of technological development that I prefer over monolithic power stations. Batteries will improve, grids will improve, cabling will improve, solar and wind will improve in efficiency. I much prefer the idea of a constantly improving tech base, rather than a system designed and built now that sucks up all the money.

Sorry Kenny you are behind the eight ball............
Energy regulator AEMO has already warned that this summer will bring the risk of possible power outages, and blackouts with energy sharing in place as Australia struggles to build renewable energy quickly enough with the rush to close coal-fired power stations.
Victoria, NSW and South Australia are some of the states at great risk of suffering from blackouts.
Massive expansion of the Easter Power grid with wind and solar sources is deeply flawed, and expensive. It will fail to deliver quality, 24-hour electricity,”
Australia will need to build fast-start open-cycle gas generators which are best able to support a grid with increasing amounts of renewables
