    Thanks for sharing! Toliara definitely has developed much better than before when I last visited back in 2007. Hope to visit this town again someday. The market looks so much bigger than before. Got fond memories of hanging out in Itafy nearby where the locals there cooked us dinner right on the beach. Enjoy and be safe out there!

    It is imperative to set the "wind" function of your camera to off, so that the sound does not switch constantly from mono to stereo at the slightest gust of wind, better a little wind noise than non-stop sound amended.
    Thank you for making us discover this country very close to our island where we are of an insolent wealth. Of course, the bikes here don't have disc brakes, or even none at all!

      usually on windy days.. I would record using a separate microphone I brought. But its not woking for some reason.

      @@pddembowski In any case, you have to put "wind" on disabled or OFF, maybe even that's why the external microphone doesn't work?!

      It feels reasonably safe. Lot of people are going to ask you for money all through the day... if you are obvious tourist

      @@yanncariou6610 I take it you don't live in Toliara as its nothing like you have described , it's very safe in the day time there are hardly any pick pockets even of a night time it's as safe as most EU city's

      @@pddembowski I've never shipped anything in to Madagascar but I have had a look into it a few years ago and remember being shocked at the amount it was going to cost $20 per lbs

      Have you ever heard of this thing called 'having no money"? These people probably have phones, their just probably older models or other wise have no features that a modern phone would have. Trust me, if they had enough money they would buy them as soon as possible.

      I don't know the region but everyone there have phones but those cheap china ones at least in antanarivo and antsirabe.
      The biggest problem why you don't take them out in public is the risk of getting your phone stolen.

      Tulear seemed quite safe at night. Most people outside at night go downtown. People will ask for money but not in a threatening way.

    Il faut faire qq chose, la ville de Toliara a encore reculé, la saleté est partout à cause de la pauvreté mais aussi de l'incompétence avérée de la mairie. Quasiment toutes les rues de la ville est délabrée, des trous partout, les trottoirs sont envahis par les petits étales faisant office de gargotes et les piétons n'ont plus d'endroit pour marcher. Le climat social est très délétère. L'état central doit faire qq chose pour apporter une solution rapide et assainir la commune dite urbaine de Toliara.
    C'est Insupportable...

      Justement tu sais pourquoi ton mocassin est rouge, je te le dirai car apparemment ça ne te gêne de tremper tes pieds dans toutes les merdes dans la ville sans urbanisme sans sanitaire sans hygiène sans une vie digne d'un humain.

      Les sans abris sont de plus en plus nombreux, ils dorment dans les rues et les ruelles, ils se soulagent en faisant leurs besoins ( kaka, pipi) dans les recoins des rues et sur les trottoirs. La puanteur est partout, insupportable de vivre ainsi.

    Cette vidéo ne reflète rien sur les réalités de la vie à Toliara. C'est une vidéo mensongère. La ville de Toliara n'est plus ce qu'elle était.
    L' insalubrité est partout, c'est Insupportable de vivre dans la crasse pareille, pas vous ? les cochons, les caprins, les vaches cohabitent avec les humains, pire que une ferme. Ça ne peut pas marcher, au contraire celà fait fuir les touristes et aggravent le chômage et la pauvreté.
    Les autorités locales de tout bord doivent retrousser leurs manches et travailler ensemble pour rendre cette ville agréable à vivre, la première chose à faire c'est d'assainir la ville pour attirer les touristes aimant cette partie Sud malgache et par ricochet améliorer les conditions de vie des gens vivant du tourisme. Comment y parvenir ? Appliquer les règles de vie commune, pas de passe-droit, pas de longo ni de fihavanana, celui pour lequel la faute arrive est immédiatement sanctionné. L'urbanisme doit répondre aux critères d'une C.U., les constructions sauvages et illicites doivent être immédiatement démolies. Pas de passe-droit, tous sont traités d'une manière équitable, pas de longo, pas de havana rien que la loi appliquée pour tous et vous allez voir que les populations et les contribuables vont non seulement apprécier mais vous applaudir.
