Jodi, life's too short. The rates u mentioned were historically low. I'm pushing 70 and came to the realization in the last ten years that you can buy just about anything you want except for time. Your ahead of the curve if and when you reach the point you no longer have to borrow money. It puts you in a much better negotiating place especially in today's market. Maine is a beautiful state roughly 4 months out of 12. We rent on the coast one year and "up country" the next year for 4 to 6 weeks. At one time we considered a second home there but we love the flexibility of renting.
