this is no joke the coolest show ive ever seen. ive never seen an instrument player go to colour guard then back to playing instrument. seriously so cool you did great
this year i was in colorguard but i got a soprano sax solo but thats really the most any colorguard will get if playing at my school and we never really incorporate the band and colorguard together and i wish we did
This show was easily the coolest thing anyone in our band has ever done. If you get the chance, look up a high cam run of it. It looks incredible and got the audience going every time. It was also sick that it was during a drum break which doesn’t happen much in high school shows.
I haft to say as a bari sax player we almost never get solos but when we do they are awesome. This was very Impressive switching from color guard to playing an instrument wow you blew my mind.
When I see people show up on my tecormended panting bari sax it makes me so happy I’ve been playing for a year now at my middle school and I’m in love with my instrument you made my day 100000x better
Kinda??? Buying a synthetic reed for bari is the greatest decision ever! Get an Medium Soft synthetic by Bari, and it will last for over a year! They sound great too!
I’m marching Bari next season and was wondering if anyone knows a good place to get a Bari Thumb rest cushion, cuz I can’t find any good ones online lol
@@davidgrimard6604they definitely are worth it i got one for my tenor for parade marching and pep band and its the best thing i have for any of my instruments
Where are you from, I'm genuinely curious because I'm an American in 8th grade, and just realized that this completely normal thing for me that I've wanted to do since smallness, is maybe not a thing, anywhere, else? And what do you think of our middle and high school "marching bands"?
I’m from the uk! Marching bands don’t really exist here. I find them cool overall, maybe slightly over the top, but that’s the point. We usually opt for wind bands / orchestras / other groups sat down on a stage. I’d imagine those exist too but they’re more the aim. We probably don’t have marching bands because we don’t have sports games in big arenas, if a sporting event is on barely anyone knows 😂 Interesting the difference!
Is that a legere synthetic or some other brand? I've had problems in the past with getting my legere to seal properly, so I figured a soloist wouldn't use them.
Big embouchure changes from low to high register and also it takes a while to figure out how to comfortably play in either standing and sitting position. Sometimes you need to rotate the mouth piece
A tip from someone who has switched from alto to a larger saxophone, go into it thinking about it as a completely different instrument. There will def be a learning curve
S80 On Bari? You trying to march that? Suggest a Berg Larson or if you are staying hard rubber the V16. Good use of the Legere. Pointless to use Cane on the field.
I know this is an old video, but you need to bring your tongue way back when you articulate. You sound like you're slap-tonguing every note because you're using too much tongue. I knew someone that did the same thing with tenor. Not trying to be mean, just trying to help.
this is no joke the coolest show ive ever seen. ive never seen an instrument player go to colour guard then back to playing instrument. seriously so cool you did great
We don’t have enough guard for rifle and we usually have wind members drop their instruments and spin for a feature and it’s really sick
That’s neat! Our show this last year had most of the drum line set their instruments down and do flags for the ballad part, cause they don’t play

Our show did something like this twice before. It’s definitely very strange 😅
Bari solos are super underrated for sure. This is like one of maybe three 2022 shows with a bari solo.
Rayburn had a really cool Bari solo in their 2022 show. The show as a whole was very interesting
my highshool show had one :D
I wish I had a solo but Ik the only Bari sax and we have a small band
Check out fishers high school’s 2023 show. Really good Bari soloist in that show, I marched with him.
“Birds aren’t real” so true.

There was definitely foot timing problems
I wish my school had a marching band:( this looks so fun as a bari player
that synthetic reed is kinda cool

Ooh! Wine dark sea inspiration!!
You are commenting on EVERY video that has a bari sax in it. Me too.
I heard Wine Dark Sea and just sent me in a world of memories from my 2019 season

"This is NOT going on youtube..." Yeah, famous last words for that one
i saw your guys show at yims and it was a life changer

3:48 “birds aren’t real”
I see your using a synthetic reed I’m also a bari and I’m the only one at my school that uses a synthetic one and it works really well
I just saw 20,000 dollars worth of instruments before he even started playing

marching pieces usually arent as hard as concert band pieces lmao you have to memorize an entire show with minimal mistakes

Oh hey I play bari sax
Do you have any tips for hitting that low a I am new and it is in a lot of my music
Search it up and it should pop up or use Google it says it
tongue the instrument to start.
How many Bari sax are there?????
Not enough there's never enough
Enough to also have bass clarinets🤔 my band had a bass clarinetist for a jazz show but he plays Bari and tenor sax normally
"Birds aren't real"
what kind of reed are you using
3 thumb keys, does he have 2 octave keys and a low A key
I play alto and I wanna switch to bari is every thing the same besides the mouth piece/length?
Fingerings are the same. You’ll have to majorly adjust your embouchure, keep your mouth more open and wide
Ok thanks

Waukee Northwest High School

3:41 Bass clarinet!!!!!!! No offense but I'm better on the bass clarinet than a bari sax. And I kinda prefer bass clarinet more. Also show was epic.
I also play both, honestly, Bari sax is better for marching imo cuz of how loud it is.
