  • Today's video is primarily from last weeks Training day with our fabulous trainer Melanie Turner. Tracey has trained with her for 18 years and she's played a vital role over the years in helping us to understand the horses movements and how we can do right by them as their 'personal trainers'
Freya had her very first session with Mel who took the 'reins' in order to help older Sanctuary resident Oebe understand a little more about how to move his body before Freya stepped in to learn how to carry out some of the exercises that will help him.
This was filmed before our 110k update so I'd like to say another HUGE thank you to those who have been able to contribute again so we can try and get the work completed before the worst of the winter
Thank you for being part of the Friesian Experience family!
    110k CAMPAIGN:
With your support we can ensure that Greenbank Farm can continue to be a home, a Sanctuary to the Friesians in our care for many generations to come. To complete the work before the worst of winter hits we currently need to raise a further £44,000 (4 Sept)

A fascinating insight into Melanie's training, so gentle but firm. Beautiful quilt for Mr J, another winner from Diane. Another lovely insight to the work at Greenbank. Thank you.

Oebe was listening so carefully to Mel as she was teaching. He so clearly wanted to please. Freya did a great job practicing what she had learned! The edging on Diane's new quilt is beautiful!!

How fascinating to watch Mel work! Freya is learning the best techniques to help Oebe become more supple and understand his body.
Patience is essential to help Oebe, and I'm so glad Mel, Freya, Tracey, and Jodie have it in spades 😊
Diane, that quilt is gorgeous, as is the painting of Hiddy Hops ❤
Hormonal girls - don't envy you working with them 😄😉

Lovely to see Oebe taking his turn. He did well. He looked a bit "dazed and confused" at the start then he got it ❤. Well done all.

A lot to learn thanks to Melanie Turner i 👏💕 and a delight to observe how OEBE / UBER demanor changes during his session, how his head and neck posture, his body stiffness are turning gradually to a more relax state . Very impressive 👍 and FREYA was an attentive ''student'' 😊 eager to replicate Melanies ''teaching'' . OEBE /WEIRDO ? Wondering if that gentle horse is really so weird AT all. ?? so volunteer to please his ''ladies'' audience 😂. 🤣. Many improvements to come this week with Michael and (if I am not wrong ) 🤔. .. the delivery of that winter Shelter. Hope the weather upon CARTMEL will. cooperate too 🙏 and last .. Diane quilt in those vibrant colors of autumn so very suited to Mr JUBBERS personnality and mane .. Waouh. Waouh. ...

Such a peaceful farm experience it must be … I can only just imagine!
So glad the horses are starting to like their food … I think that’ll be a good change for all of them. Unfortunately, we have a feed industry (whether it be dogs, cats, goats, cows, sheep, horses, etc.) that’s more interested in making money than the actual care of animals. One has to be so savvy now to ensure you’re giving the best quality of food to keep the animals in fit top condition. I especially hope this will resolve Iceman’s ulcer health condition.
Loved the training with Mel … much like what Steve Young does … most notably she’s looking at their feet and moving him that way vs. eye balling him. No doubt it’s a lot more calming for a flight or fight brained animal. Ground work can never be overrated, it’s so important … the foundation of any discipline!
Excited about the start to Hoitze’s and Jubber’s house now it’s getting closer to being in the works. It’s going to look so special. The farm is starting to really shape up! Tamara I know a lot of this is your doing too … you’re doing a great job managing it all.
That painting is stunning … what an excellent job her mother has done … so talented … it looks so much like that framed picture.
Wow … Diane Cox, I think you’ve actually outdone yourself this time … that’s probably the most vivid quilt you’ve ever done! It’s absolutely gorgeous … definitely should go with the hug with the pearls!
Things are finally starting to get back to normal … well as normal as a sanctuary can be. This past Summer has been one of immense difficulty for all … but especially traumatizing for the family of owners/staff and volunteers at Greenbank. What was needed to be done was … and I think we’re all relieved Teddy Bear is now resting in peace and no longer in pain. There was no other way around it … the decision had to be made. I know it was a heavy burden on you Tracey and I’m so proud you tried to do what you could do and then recognized it was time to call it quits! I have no doubt Teddy Bear knew he was loved … and that’s the most important thing!
    Thanks for sharing as always!
    TTFN! 🙏🙌✝️✡️❤️🫐🍏🥕🥦🥨🍒🍉🍎

She is no longer working at the Sanctuary. Since she is young, only 20 years, she is pursueing other interests as I understood. She grew up amongst these horses, so it is only natural for her to spread her wings and to make her own life now.
