- Purvottar Ke Sitare is one of our flagship programmes, in which every week we will introduce you to someone special, who has worked tirelessly for the betterment of India’s northeastern region or achieved something significant as an individual.
In the latest episode, our Editor-in-Chief Sanjeev Srivastava introduces you to the Shillong Chamber Choir - a brilliant band based in picturesque state of Meghalaya - that has for the past 15 years held the nation spellbound with its melodious music. They also performed at British rock band Coldplay’s first concert in India in front of an audience of over 80,000 people.

Neil I just started to know you and your group when I was going through the most difficult time of my life. I was fighting Cancer in 2018. Fortunately I managed to beat it with 2 years of treatment. I fell in love with your Choir. There after 2 years of everyone’s life was taken away by Corona. Now I have had a relapse and fighting Cancer again, but this time the doctors cannot do much for me. I decided to start listening to your group again as your Group gives me a lot of encouragement and strength. And then I heard that you passed away not so long ago. I have been devastated ever since. I just can’t believe it. It’s like your passing away has made millions of people orphans. You were everything to us. I told God that I am suppose to die because I have a relapse and not much time left. Why didn’t you take me instead of Neil as too many people look up to him and they all need his him. I don’t know what plans God has for all of us. Rest In Peace. Neil I always love you and your group.

@@snowview4902Thank you very much. I am so happy to read your beautiful encouraging words. I have my surgery on the 1st. It is for Total Laryngectomy and Pharyngectomy. It is a very long and a complicated surgery. I live in America and this surgery will take about 12 hours with a team of 8 doctors operating on me. If the surgery is successful the. I will get a few more years, but I will never be able to talk, breathe through my nose or eat from my mouth. I already have a feeding tube in my stomach through which I get my formula meal every 4 hours. For breathing I have a tracheotomy tube in my throat and then for talking probably I will be given that robotic machine. Honestly I don’t want to live this kind of a handicapped life. Oh God please take me away and keep me with yourself. Thank you

Nomination can be made by local politicians ,NGO's or govt of meghalaya etc. Even self nomination can be made. You should request local authories or govt on twitter to recommend SCC for civilian awards.
