  • Eastport, Maine, once a bustling sardine-industry city in Washington County, is making a comeback.
In this episode of Chasing Maine, meet two of Eastport's newer residents - Richard Fulghum, a former college professor from Denver, and Joan Lowden, a native Californian who left a tech career in Silicon Valley.
Despite the challenges of long, cold winters and small-town life, they both made quality of life decisions to exit career paths and move thousands of miles to make Eastport their landing spot.

Rich! Good to see you, neighbor. A sweet clip of a great town filled with the very best people. It's a unique place in both nature and people 365 days a year. Both solitude and activity if one chooses.

Fun video! So nice to see Rich's familiar face from the very beginning. My partner and I travel to Eastport twice every year, in February and August. It's really cold in February, but the air is so pure and to see the sunrise over the water every morning is heavenly. An extraordinary and lovely place to slow down, recharge, and spend time with friends we've made over the years.
