Holy cow! We've been pulling trees with our Pullerbears for a long time and we have never seen roots as long as the ones in this video. Those Hawaiian work boots are bitchin'

Thanks for posting this! No pun intended, I was totally stumped on how to remove those tough bastards.

    Thanks Garrett for your video.
Busted my buns on digging out a couple of haole koa so I searched RUclips and found your video.
    Purchased the Pullerbear on Amazon.
Yesterday I pulled out 40 stubs in less than a couple of hours, unreal it works.

      Hi Gary,
The video is the least I could do to promote the Pullerbear. It has saved me countless hours of cutting down the trees, tossing them down our hill, loading up our car and hauling away to the dump
I think if I hadn't addressed the issue, my whole yard would've been full of haole koa and it wouldn't have been 300-400 of them, it would've been over 1000.
      Thanks for sharing!

I just ordered mine after watching this video. It helped that Pullerbear charges only a $30 flat shipping rate. I like the mechanical advantage it has over the Extractigator. Those long roots used to stop my Ram 2500 Cummins in 4 low with a brush grubber.

      Hi Ted,
I’m glad this will help you! I still have a few Haolekoa that seem to pop up out of nowhere now and then but they are an afterthought now. Their presence in my yard was really stressful and troublesome.
There were about 7 that exceeded the max girth of what the pullerbear XL can handle (3” diameter) and I dug around the edges of the stump and cut it there. I think I may have stopped the very last of them.
I cannot recommend the Pullerbear company enough! They are great people and they provided me with a way to solve a big problem that I cannot hope to repay! Very grateful!

Garrett, I only now saw your video and i'm sold!
I have Haole Koa growing in my back yard that I can't control... Your video makes it looks easy to pull out. I'm guessing it's harder than it looks but it looks way easier than digging. Ordered mine just now... hopefully it does the job!

CY I'm certain the Pullerbear will help!
I pulled out nearly 400 of the awful plants/trees from my backyard. Before I took them out with the Pullerbear I used to cut the plants to the ground, heave them down our hill, drag them to the front of the house, load them in our CRV and haul it to the Kailua dump. Every 3 months or so. So eradicating them without the use of poisoning was a great solution to the pesky plants. I went from around 400 plants to 4 (the remaining ones have grown too thick for the jaws of the Pullerbear to get around).
If you use the Pullerbear and the Haole Koa snaps off where it meets the ground, you'll have to use a pickaxe to dig around and down a little to secure the root/plant at a lower place as the roots can form like a carrot, where the thicker girth of it is below the ground. There's no greater feeling when the plant gives way and comes out of the ground. Good luck!

In hindsight I wish I had taken pictures of what it looked like before when I had the problem. It was very disheartening to see the overgrowth every few months and knowing I needed to take care of it. Quite the chore. Now all I have to do is weedwhack and rake our hill. That's still a pain but at least I don't have to cut, toss, drag and haul the plants to the dump!

I think that's kind of where I'm at right now. The longer I wait, the worse it gets. Seems like i'm fighting a losing battle. Although my yard is not huge, it's large for me, and being busy most of the time makes it hard for me to keep digging the Haole Koa out. Hopefully this will make the job easier.
      Thanks again for the info...

Hi Stanley, I would keep cutting the plants/trees down so the tallest they ever grew was like 4 or 5 feet.
It really depends on the girth at the base. If they are up to 3 inches max in diameter you can get them out. If it is bigger then it cannot be done. I would also say that as it approaches 3 inches, it is really beginning to be pretty entrenched down deep and you’d have to dig down and get it out. Those big buggahs on the video were ones that I thought wouldn’t come out and you can see how long those roots are.
Any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask! I had nearly 400 I dug up in my backyard and now I have exactly 5 that I am contending with. This product is nothing short of a miracle-worker imho.

Maybe can cut the girth of the stump so Pullerbear can fit and then pull? I ordered my Pullerbear and can't wait to try it out! Haole koa taking ova my backyard!

@@Tomslick808 above 3 inches, use a hi lift jack w/ chain; significantly more power/leverage.
I know of people pulling out multiple stumps @ 15-20" diameters with the cheapest model hi lift and it took them about 10 minutes per tree/stump

How tall where those Haole Ko’s before you cut them down? Mine are getting twenty feet and wonder if this would still work

Hey J, this thing is awesome and the people at Pullerbear are the best! Like I said, it pulled out over 325 haole koa (or koa haole), big and small and another 50+ nuisance plants/trees. The best investment I ever made! Good luck!

Garrett Omoto I placed an order for the XL Pro321 and can't wait to get it! Mahalo again for sharing!

No problem! I'm glad to help. I was very skeptical of the effectiveness of the Pullerbear because the haolekoa seemed like the immovable force. But they were no match for the Pullerbear. I went from 350 or so of the haolekoa to a countable number, 8. I cut those remainder below the level of the ground and now figuring how to take care of them.
When the Pullerbear tears them out of the ground you'll feel this strange sense of satisfaction. Took me 4 days working about 4-5 hours to remove the 300 haolekoa and the other plants.

      Hi Paul,
The model I have is the Pullerbear XL. I don’t think the XL321 was available at the time I bought mine. Good luck with clearing your trees!
