Thank you for this video ! Greetings from Hungary ! Jaguar should have always 2cars in their lineup. A GT/Sportscar (Like the E-type,XJS,XK and recently F-type) and a Luxury sports saloon(XJ) no more needed !
What a wonderful interview with the man who rescued Jaguar from the death-grip of BL. Sure, I'm prejudiced as the proud custodian of multiple XJ's of various Series, a Mk2 and an XJS, but I found this fascinating. I've read alot about the Egan years but it was really interesting to hear it straight from the 'horses mouth' as it were. Thanks for posting this.
Dear @50 Robin Hill....the ''leaders'' we have now here in Germany are even more grubby as as all Lizzy's and Paulas you can gather together. The results you can foll everyday in the media. Meanwhile I think that all industrial nations have lost people like Sir John Egan. I hope they find their way back, before everything is too late.
This the kind of leadership we need for Britain and British industry - committed, honourable, human, across the detail. But we now live in the era of people like Liz Truss and Paula Vennells - grubby, greedy, lying nonentities.
Toyota would have been a perfect partner for Jaguar. British style and design with Japanese build quality......and money. Toyota would not have led Jaguar down the road of the S and X Type. What a shame.

Bill Hayden was the man who saved Jaguar imo..
I agree I did 38 years at jaguar...the Eagan era was very short term with fortunes made by privatization and share options
yes, but he wouldn't have been able to if JE hadn't rescued it (XJ Series III and XJ40) and made it saleable in the first instance.
