omg!!!i would give my eyeteeth to have some layer cakes jelly rolls fat quarters Oh heck id love to work there what a quilters dream you are soooo lucky thanks for sharing
So much fun to watch. I'm an Ambassador, and was thrilled you showed the photos and my quilt design in Juicy Mosaics. It was fun to see the warehouse, and the new collections, too. I love Island Batik's fabrics because they don't fray as much as other brands, the colors are so vibrant and the tjaps are fun and creative. The Basics and Neutrals are great, too. I love knowing I can grab a basic for binding and borders of any collection, and there will be something that matches. Great job, guys, and Caleb, thanks so much for making sure we have great products.

When the cutting table is longer than my sewing room 🙄🤣🙄🤣 So interesting because Bali is my nearest international destination from Western Australia 🇦🇺. Favourite holiday spot for many Australians. Plus I just made something in a batik fabric this very evening of the video before watching the replay.
I really love the fabrics from Island Batic, the bright colors and that it does not fray the way many other fabrics do. I use the ribbon they wrap around the layer cakes for several projects and make closures or handels from it. Greetings from Germany love Peggy
Just bought my very first Island Batik fabric after learning about the tremendous craftsmanship that goes into these fabrics - this business is truly inspiring!
Great video. So informative. I appreciated this video very much! Thank you. I love Island Batiks and have used them in the past. It’s great learning about the processes.
Thanks Rob and Caleb, a very interesting show. The colours in the batiks packs were amazing.I’ve made a bargello table runner with one of your strip packs but had no idea you supplied so many choices. I’ll chat to my local quilt shop here in Oz and see if they can stock more choices. Fingers crossed.
Have several packs in my stash, but I also buy yardage. I love the stability, the density and process makes the fabrics very smooth. I like to use them for baby quilts!
I read that the Batiks do not need to be prewashed as part of the process in dyeing the fabric includes wetting in hot baths, wringing and drying so the fabric is not prone to shrink or loose color when washed after it is finished. A word on that?
I'm an Island Batik Ambassador and yes, I can confirm that batiks are more or less preshrunk as the hand dying process uses very hot water to remove the wax, and the wax-resist dying process may be done multiple times on a particular fabric. In addition, modern quilt shop fabric (not just batiks) use inks that do not typically run and do not require prewashing. However, we've all had that one fabric that ran. So if you are a prewasher, go ahead and prewash your batiks as well. I'm not a prewasher and haven't had any issues despite being an Ambassador for 6 years. BUT I do not wash my quilts often (only when they get dirty) and when I do, I use Shout color catchers in the wash. As a general rule, the fabrics you might want to prewash are the highly saturated (deep with color) reds, purples, and blues. Also, if you combine batiks with other quilting cottons you might want to prewash the quilting cottons because your batiks have basically already been preshrunk. If you don't, the quilt will shrink unevenly (even so, quilting cottons are high quality so they won't shrink much). Hope this helps.
@Inquiring Quilter Thanks for that info! There's a rumor in the quilting world that if you wash batiks with color catchers "a chemical interaction" will cause the dyes to be drawn out or released from the batik fabric and fade them. This never made sense to me because of the process in making batiks, so I'm glad to see you mention you use color catchers. I appreciate your voice of experience!
I have heard the same for years, but never have experienced any bleeding, however, I do not wash my quilts. If you are concerned, you can prewash with synthropal or retayne to set the dyes for washed quilts.
I don’t want to make you jealous but when Walmart shut down their fabric shop, I got a cutting table !
My hometown. I didn’t realize it was right there! I worked at Legoland for several years. Miss home all the time.
Just found your page! Love it❤

What are tjaps? Wondering if it is a vocabulary word related to Batiks?
