- While out in Texas. We stopped in to visit @ArcLightFab & see what Aaron has been up to.
He gave us a full shop tour and walked us around all of his Ford Trucks. Adamae the 1962 F100 Unibody that has a custom-built frame & getting a 6.2L Raptor Motor, Ol' Charlie Brown the 1973 F350 Supercab Service Body sitting on a 1998 Ram 3500 Chassis, & Can't forget the little Dentside 4x4 he cut down. Even got to see @DailyDrivenExotics F12 he's been working on. It was a great time.
While out there we recorded a podcast for F100 Talk you can check it out by clicking this link traffic.libsyn...

This dude just talked more in one youtube video than he did for the entire run of the tv series he was on.
haha
his brain is on 200% duty cycle
@Mike Longdick I think Richard knew that Aaron would outgrow gas monkey one day. But he kept him as busy as he could , ga e him projects that he wanted to keep him as long as he did.
@Mike Longdick if you ever paid attention he gives Aaron all the credit he deserves he never says he does anything he just pays the bills he's always had Aaron was the guy.
Jeezz, In the old days someone talking like Aaron would be on speed. Brain, eyes, mouth running 100mph.
Aaron is one of the most genuine guys I’ve had ever seen on TV. He is also the one guy I would love him to build a car. Also I was one of those fans of his Ford Falcon.
So good, Solo! Thanks for bringing us this one. Aaron is a real treasure for the hot rod community.
Glad to see he is growing the beard again. His last one was iconic.
Aaron is one of the few tv builders I've ever considered to deserve it. Hearing him go right into nerding out on trucks tells you everything about this guy. Just a dude that loves trucks. Glad he's moved past that one tv show.
Absolutely
He was the best talent on that show and definitely has a vision. His brain is several steps ahead of what he is talking about. Personally I like him and his style.
He makes u no hu look like kindergartner
He was the talent and only reason jobs got done.
Glad to see him doing well.
WAWWWW
Aaron's knowledge of cars/trucks body, frames, motors, and all the interworkings associated with suspension is off the charts. It took me a minute to catch up with what he was saying after that you basically just tune in and let him go. He's like a walking mechanical encyclopedia, a great interview.
thank you
Aaron is such a class act!! I can listen to this dude all day. He doesn't give a shit about fame. Guy just wants to work on trucks
exactly right
I love Aaron, always loved his attitude towards building, repairing and modifying. I missed him, and i wish i could learn to be a mechanic....
Glad to see Aaron is still around. Haven't seen him in a while. Miss his work. 😂
He’s still doing plenty.
Haven't seen him post anything new for over a year.
Dudes a god
The dum level has increased..
I’d love to see Kaufman back on TV, there’s nothing good on since he left. Naked people in the woods and propaganda nonsense....need more car stuff.
Doesn’t he have Shifting Gears and Aaron needs a job?
@@irvnulton3169 ANAJ , 7 episodes 2019. Zilch these days.
Its still cool, just lacking Kaufman
Your a legend arclite! This is a man who has accumulated so much knowledge. He could talk under water, thats only cause he has his head under the hood all day and is not trying to be an ‘influencer’ or some time waster trying to get 1000000 views. I have so much respect for these grass roots people. He gets an opportunity to impart knowledge man and he goin for it! Thankyou brother, actually what we call here in Australia the quiet achiever! Keep building man i wish i had your expertise!
I’m a gm guy but definitely a truck guy. I’ll drive any of the top 3. Do love the old ford bodies. This guy knows his stuff
On bed length proportions, I like that ford tooled it up the way that they did. A short bed is just exactly that. Plus, those short beds are just easier to restore without having to go through multiple sections being cut and sectioned. The body man in me loves that.
Found the blog about Charlie Brown while searching service body trucks after purchasing my service bodied 75 F 350 dually & I've been obsessed with it ever since... such an awesome truck.
It really is. Can’t wait for it to be on the road
Aaron would be huge on RUclips. His name alone is a huge draw.
nah man he does enough on his other social media.
He doesn't strike me like he really wants to be you toob famous of course I could be wrong 🤷🏽♂️
Yeah. Huge draw. You can tell by one "project" in the "shop" that isn't his "personal" vehicle that he's "building" for a RUclips "vlogger" as a "favor" and probably "gratis" for the "free advertising" and his two "shops" plus his "home garage" he "got started in", zero employees, one "finished" vehicle on the property that's someone else's "build" (of what "expert" Aaron Kaufman calls "original" and a "survivor" despite the "boosted" 6.2 LS - the "original" 6.2 "LS" - engine "swap" and the "new interior") he "traded" his "famous" Ford "Falcon" so-called "race car" for and the fact that Mr. Busy that's got so much going on "answering the phone" and...driving around getting stuff for "builds"...he only "works" a couple hours per day while retaining "flexibility" but is able to get up "one morning" and decide to go buy an F100 "dentside" 4x4 "trash truck" because he's never had one INSTEAD of going to "work" AND has an hour of "free time" for an "interview" and "shop tour" by this RUclips vlogger he has apparently take on multiple "road trips" to buy "project trucks" and apparently "works" about as much and hard as he does with his 1-man "company" as a "manufactuer" of aftermarket "custom" chassis and suspension parts and components for "classic" Ford F-series light trucks. And he's such a "draw" he says he could knock out a "cutdown" job on a "dentside" box in a "day" and the whole "fabrication" including."fuel lines and brake lines" in a "week" or so.
No doubt "fabricating" the "new" brake and fuel lines by "snip-snipping" the "excess" out of the existing "vintage" lines and "stitching" them back together with brass nut-ferrule "compression fittings" just like the hatchet-job chop-shop bend-to-fit and paint-to-match and part-replacing rustoration bondo-bodywork "fabricator" and "master mechanic" he revealed himself to be "build" after "build" on BOTH "the television program"s he "starred" in even though he's only a big "name" for.the ONE of them where literally every "build" he ACTUALLY "built" to any significant degree.whatsoever was substantially "farmed out" to other "shops" and/or ended up being 90% "prefab" and 10% "fabrication" and/or was 90% "cosmetic" and 10% "mechanic" and/or had multiple "issues" from parts not fitting to "new" engines not starting to blown or last-minute "deadlines" to his "vision" falling on its ass on the "auction block" to "good" project cars he personally "inspected" and pronounced "solid" being rusted out and/or seized up and/or bondo-filled and/or hatchet-jobbed and/or overpriced SCRAP and being "punted" before any "building" even began to his "vision" being the same shit that was "hot" in the custom/hot-rod "community" and "industry" in/on the pages of their "fashion magazines" Hot Rod and Popular Hot Rodding and Rod & Custom and Car Craft around the time the shows "filmed" and months after the "hot" and "new" magazine "rods" were "built" and got their photo studio "glamour shots" taken and "edited" and "published" and YEARS out of "style" by the time "the TV program" finally "aired".
The "fashionable" baby shit brown Ford "highboy" so-called "traditional hot-rod" was a perfect example. "Earth tones" and "root beers" and "maroons" and "understated" monochromatic "candy" colors and paint jobs were "hot" on "period correct" new-build "hot-rods" out in "Cali" a couple years before that episode "aired" and for about 6 months and 3 or 4 "cover cars" max before the "industry" found out the "community" ain't gonna pay $10,000 for a paint job with $100 worth of "single-stage" UPS brown with a little off-white mixed in and "clear" fogged over a mile deep in 5 hours max.of "booth time".by a "pro" and 50 hours off "cut and buff" by some minimum-wage Spanish-speaking "guest worker" that can't afford a subscription to Hot Rod much less a "SEMA trip" even he.could read or understand what the "names" in the "industry" were "building" and calling "hot".
That old Ford tool truck is freaking sweet I want it
Killer video! Gotta love Aaron’s enthusiasm and his love of Ford’s. 👌🏻
Thank you and oh yea, super passionate about them
Always shared his enthusiasm for old Fords, our family grew up on them too. Funny though is Aaron's "displeasure" of Mustangs!
He hates mustang
When you visit a dude that works alone you can guarantee some story time. Really enjoyed this, thanks for doing it.
thanks for watching
Aaron talks faster than my brain can process.
I had to check if I had increased the speed to 1.5x. Get Aaron on a roll and he doesn't stop. Love it.
This is one Kool kat and smart.he knows his craft.
Aaron is a good dude, Thanks for sharing.
Where I'm at it is about 1 mile to the Atlantic Ocean and a 1/4 mile to the Delaware Bay plus they salt our roads when we do get snow, My cars look 3 times their age under them, in 16yrs My 93 Bronco went from like new under it to looking like I drove on the beach everyday. Same for our 04 Jeep Liberty that we bought new which is really rusting away.
Cleanest shop floor around...
Aaron who put gas monkey on map to bad tight Richard didn't make it Wright with him
Ay the fact is everybody love Aaron guy is a truck master amazing mind for cars
Love that dude. Wish I could hang out with him and talk builds for an hour!
Excellent video! Cool projects, and was great to hear you guys talk trucks.
I'm in Iowa and the brine is everywhere from November to April. We don't have patina we have buckets.
I like the way Aaron corrected himself by saying that the chassis would need to be installed by another shop, or by a guy that knows what hes doing in his home garage. Sad truth is, after being in the restoration trade for over 25 years, i honestly see better quality coming out of home garages than “professional” shops. Aaron does some awesome work. It’s nice to see another Ford guy really making a mark on this brand.
Clearing Patina is ok as long as its a matte finish. Nothing looks dumber than a shiny clear coat over patina.
I have an all original 67 Cougar 390GT. Zero rust. Factory faded paint. Im on the fence of restoring, or leaving original. But i do want a better suspension built for handling.
yes sir, love a nice cougar.
It's only original once.
There aren't 2 "professional" restoration "shops" for every 200 "body shops" and "hot rod shops" and "hot rod builders" out there selling "restorations" and no real "professional" can be or will claim to be or try to be much less "sell himself" as a "professional" at "auto restoration". No two "jobs" are remotely alike, nobody that "specializes" in certain "makes" or even "models" will ever come close to seeing and doing "it all" and unless a "professional" CAN and DOES "do it all" without "sending out" his "jobs" to other "shops" he's not "restoring" jack shit. And yes. There ARE true.pros out there that can and do "do it all" but they're usually "ready to retire" after a LITERAL "lifetime" in the "auto industry" and "starting at the bottom" as "kids" sweeping floors and washing cars and all that "dirty work" and "manual labor" and "repetitive tasks" that are never really the same twice and have to be done right or done over and teach the value of attention to detail and doing right anything worth doing at all and "mastering" the "easy stuff" to work up to the "fun stuff". And the true "professionals" CONTINUE to do their own "dirty work" so it gets done "right" and the "hard stuff" is "fun stuff".
What have you been doing in the "industry" for ONLY "25 years" that qualifies YOU to judge quality of "work" and that gives you so much free time and access to "home garages" and "professional shops" and how do you know a "professional" didn't do the "work" that came out of a "home garage"?
That you call what others do "work" when no "hobbyist" in his "home garage" or "professional" in a "restoration" shop REALLY thinks of "restoration" as "work" unless it's "just a job" to them and they'll never "stick it out" long-term or really COMPLETE any "project" no mattet how many they "finish" says all I need know about your level of "professionalism" and how much your opinion of "today" in the "restoration industry" really means.
What comes "out" of a "garage" or "shop" always begins with and depends on what goes in as/with a "project" from the object to be "restored" itself to its owner(s) and their "professionalism" and attitude and personality and "resources" both tangible and intangible the "mechanic" needs to do the "work".
The old computer programming saying "Garbage In Garbage Out" comes to mind as does "You can't polish a turd". And when something "comes out" of a garage OR shop it's far too late for "quality control", beauty is STILL only skin deep and.perfection unattainable and if the owner waits until the "coming out" to suddenly get interested in and pay attention to "quality of work" then he/she/they will have gotten exactly what they "deserved".
Glad you are fixing the cougar i have a almost restored 67 cougar 289 auto ps pb ac car 2 owner was sold new at matthews Ford in Asheville nc and is still in wnc
I had a 1977 F150 Ford King Cab painted in yellow with the white top with the 360 motor. It only had around 80,000 miles on it, but what destroyed the truck is the steel belt on the tire came loose and destroyed the bed and tailgate.
Aaron is one solid dude!
Aaron is a genius! He should sign a contract with EVERY car company as a consultant and show them how it SHOULD be done.......
Aaron reminds me of 90 year old hot rodders that were building cars in the 50's
Arron looks happy and relaxed in his own business unlike at GMG that's owned by what's his name.
What's his name can't change a flat tire. He was all about promotion and money. Aaron knows his shit and I'd watch him anytime.
Richard got cars finished
Hopefully he appreciates the money and recognition he got from the show.
@@gjermand as much as I respect Richard for the thing he's achieved in his life (could easily do without the "whoos" though)
It wasn't him finishing the cars was it. It was the team around him doing the physical work.
@@beegee495 well done captain obvious. What’s your point as you haven’t invalidated my previous comment
Is the green Ford 4 Sale?
Mr. Kaufman a very knowledgeable man
I'm guessing the reason they kept Aaron quiet on GMG is because he's like the freaking rain-man of vehicles and the other dude never stops talking anyway.
On the other show what's his name was the sizzle and Aaron was the steak.
@@rickdaystar477 lmao😅😅
i would love to see arclight fab, kc s, garage and gmg, should have a build off and straight drag and then crircuit race
That f150's stance is absolutely PERFECT!
Solution to the clearcoat "dillema" Aaron??? Use FLAT and or SATIN CLEAR....NOT Semigloss or GLOSS😱 like that "one idiot" did a bunch of "his sh.t" 😏.... ..
He was ready to talk son!!
Informative. Maybe decaf moving forward. Ha. Really appreciate the knowledge
lol
There’s no such thing as decaf meth.
That is a beautiful blue Chevy Suburban
Aaron you’re the Man dude, get on it.
He cant switch presenter mode off lol but im not complaining, the knowledge and enthusiasm from his mouth is amazing even if it is at 100mph lol ❤
so so fast, but its all really good stuff
that dude is so humble and down to earth, great knowledge and you can tell he's passionate about what he does. Thanks for the video !
It's people like Aaron that keeps those old trucks alive. 🤘 Great Video!
Aaron is one awesome dude! Acts exactly how he does on tv. Super cool guy
as real as it gets
Looks like an old PG&E service truck before they changed their colors in 1988, from brown & tan to blue, white & orange.
My in-laws have a combined 117 years in PG&E.
I had to check and make sure I didn't have this video playing at .25x speed. Never heard Aaron talk that much or that fast.
Meth or coke
Arc light fab. Not to sure about that name, kinda weird. Makes me think of a lighthouse instead of the light given off of a tig welder. But anyway, Aaron does look happy and not stressed out. I'm happy for him. In fact I bought a 61 ford falcon because I liked his so much and his video of it running through the city was awesome.
He seems to be alot more happier and less stressed out in his own shop. Glad to see him doing his own thing & doing good. That old Ford F150 4X4 looks good.
Aaron is just a book of knowledge! The Ford Guru
But he hates mustangs...... go figure
A GREAT AUTO BUILDER
Aron u are a genius miss u big bro🤙
Tell me ya done a gram of speed without telling me ya done a gram of speed 😂😂😂
All ford shop
Just started watching Love the channel. I love f250s and hiboys. I have an W250 though is there a similar channel like this for Dodges? It's mostly all diesel stuff
Hey bud, Thank you. Im not too big on dodges so not sure.
Great content love mr k here in 🇬🇧
thank you
Dude that's so cool to see him what ever happened to that other goofball he used to work for?
He's worth $20+million so don't you worry about Richard
I'm searching for the powder on his mustache!!! He is speeding hard!
Aaron should have his own channel
I could watch Aaron for days. Miss the OG Fast and Loud
So does Richard Rawlings
I'm not sure about that, he's doing very well for himself with or without Aaron lol. I'm sure he misses having that specific talent around the shop, but either way he's killing it, and so is Aaron. I'm sure he's happy as long as Aaron is.
Loud mouth rawlings owes his success to Aron in the beginning and discovery.. his no Dennis!!! Another is Iron resurrection.. show went down hill soon as most left.. hated Foose show.. rather watch Finnigan, road kill etc.. youtube is good except the excessive ads..
He talking fast and acting cooked up but .... That Ford is dope and that custom frame 💪🏾💯
5 seconds, Aaron immediately starts talking about projects.
I really like the green F150. I would put vintage air, and reupholster the seat, and use it for my endless Home Depot runs.
Haven't heard from him in forever! He's the reason I watched fast and loud.
Damn, he would make a great teacher/instructor. Encourage the youth to dream, fail and try again, keep going. Look at things from different views. I agree on the lifts, once it gets past a certain height, i know others will not agree.
I see no junk at all in these shops in this vlog, kool thanks BigAl California.
He mentioned Bakersfield and I immediately thought why the hell would you be here? LOL.
Dude you don't owe anybody any explanation bro. Aaron is simply amazing at what he does
Bump side heaven! Especially love Charlie Brown! Dreaming of building a similar build with my supercab. I love the idea of building a vintage Baja chase truck with a service body. One of these days!
I need to know what COFFEE Aaron drinks, He is doin 100mph standin still! Great guy and Master Tech!
We call that... meth.
Stop saying patina
I'm building a 74 F350 service truck right now. I originally planned to use my 75 supercab but found the 350 and its perfect so I picked it up.
so cool
Aaron is a fast talker.
Boa tarde congrats Aaron trabalho arcilght fad 2021 vai homens amigos amén dia você casar mulher e bebê 🏠✨🚗📝🇺🇸🙏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 bom
not that it matters but he looks so much better without the ridiculously long beard
Can you bring back my 08 150.its been a great truck. Have not been driven for about 3 plus years. About 280000 miles. I just want to slow down a little. 68 years old would like to see some places before the gov takes my right to drive away. I know it's not a right. Start getting old and we will see what I think about that
Aaron is the best love his attention to detail, and attitude about stuff.
Aaron was the man making it happen at Gas Monkey. Very creative and competent guy!
I think they both had their gifts and imperfections. Thats what made it a hit show. What if Tesla would have had a Richard?
@@tomwinkle5536 maybe but after Aaron left, gas monkey garage wasn't the same!! Everyone was asking same thing over and over again in GMG videos that ""Where is Aaron""..Richard is good but Aaron like guys happen once in years!! Maybe he is rebirth of Smokey guys who cracked NASCAR charts!
Q lindo poder vivir de lo q a uno le gusta q son los fierros y poder restaurar esas terribles camionetas q cada día las veo más lindas
Abrazo desde Mendoza Argentina..
“Aaron is a genius!” Yet he appears to be building the same BS patina coated restomods that every other “builder” is making.
Did we watch the same video?
I'm a Wyoming Tech Institute Allumnis, retired in Marble Falls, Texas.
I wish that all of that knowledge he was delivering, I could absorb it as fast, very knowledgeable man
I just said yesterday to myself, I wonder what Aaron's doing today?
I love that Arclight is working on stuff which doesn't have aftermarket support from every supplier out there.
me too
pretty kool seein aaron wish ya woulda kept a show an let tricky ricky the dickey go kick rocks..... i work alone building offroad 4 wheelers a buggies here in Ark.... git bored load up yer offroad toys n come play screw all this publicity bullshit
I always wanted to buy a 1973 Ford F250 extended cab and I didn't care views 8' bed or 6 workbag it would be a 6' bed when I got done with it with a Newark frame With the biggest diesel I could put it and do it Show quality and that was my ways my dream to do I love the F 250 bodies they were absolutely gorgeous I do not like the new plastic trucks Please comment back if you feel the same Thank you for this video
i do my man, They dont make them the same
@@FordEra The new trucks are garbage Hey look nice and have a lot of nice options but they are a piece of shit big time
Aron the trick to stopping brine is lamb's wool oil spray..
Fantastic vid.Love the trucks!!
I'm not a Ford fan but I am an automotive fan. I once had a Fox body Mustang die in Death valley due to a plugged fuel filter which screwed into the Carb. I got some really dirty gas so I would take it off and shake the shlt out of it as best as possible then drive some more at 15 to 25mph for over 700 MILES! If it had been a Chevy I could've taken the inline filter out and replaced it with the body of a pen. It took me almost 3 days to go from Darwin, California to Fernley, Nevada. Then while leaving home to go back to Darwin I backed I to a small shrub which punctured the gas tank. The distributor would get wet and the car wouldn't die and wouldn't start until I took it off and dried the inside off the cap off. My first car was a 1976 Pinto station wagon which could take turns at high speed like it was on rails but it had so many drivetrain issues and it caught on fire while I was leaving high school which I was the 1st to the exit gate and is were it caught fire so nobody could leave school. I Also had a 1991 Ford Fiesta which was great at climbing sandy hills, i wont even go into the problems with that car. Im sure Ford's of today are great but I'll never buy one. I would take any Ford F150 and up from the 70s and I'd also take any 67-78 Mustang with the 5.0 or larger and of course the Bronco from the 60s. Like I said I'm an automotive fan.
That was awesome!! Aaron just gets it.. can't say much else, dude has the magic eye. Thanks for uploading this gem!!
you are welcome
#DDE that beautiful TT Ferrari, IN THE BACK ON THE LIFT!!!!
Ace 👌
Aaron is cool but his character doesn’t do well on tv. Absolutely nothing wrong w being the number 2 guy especially in a great team..
Aaron Kaufman is an American National treasure. His work will be celebrated long into the future and someday may be added to the greats like Carol Shelby etc.
awesomes man k
I love how he jumps into talking about the truck. barely says hi and is like "look at this!"
This man definitely on a higher level thought process on setting up a vehicle for it's design purpose,🤔👍😎✌️😔🙏
