    Congrats on the new job, Tyler!
    As I wrote in an earlier comment, I'm a big fan of the Earnie Ball nickel strings. I'd say that their characteristics are quite similar to the La Bellas: warm, overall balanced tone with clarity and punch. And they are not too pricy here in germany.
    The standard Daddarios for example have a much too dominant midrange, especially on passive basses imo.
    I also used GHS Boomers for quite a while. They have more low end but lose their brightness quite fast.
    Back when I played stainless steel strings I was impressed by the Elites Stadium strings from Bass Centre. Also very well balanced, but more aggressive tone in the high mids, typical for stainless steel. But I didn't really like the rough feel plus they seemed to wear out the frets much more. So I turned back to nickel.
    Maybe I'll give the La Bellas a try. Sound quite good in the mix on your bass, especially with tone at 50%.
    Nice review.
    A comparison with other strings on the same bass would be awesome (but also quite a lot of work and expenses for sure)!
    Thumbs up!

    They sound great. Are they long scales on the PJ? La Bellas seem to have different scale lengths to other brands, or perhaps I'm totally wrong.

    Hi Tyler, you mentioned at the end of this video that these strings are not for someone looking for lower tension. Their packaging contradicts that, but then I realize that’s a relative statement. So, in your opinion, do you consider them as flexible or more so than LaBella Flexible Flats, or D’Addario EXL rounds, or DR Sunbeams? I’m just lookin for something I can relate them to before I jump into the pool. Thanks!

    • @TylerSpicer
      @TylerSpicer  Год назад +1

      Less flexible than LaBella LTFs, less flexible than Dunlop Super brights. They’re probably fairly flexible considering the gauge in comparison to other heavy gauges strings. I can’t remember the last time I played sunbeams or EXLs, but from memory I think these are a touch more flexible than the D’Addarios. T

      @@TylerSpicer thanks for the quick reply! I failed to mention how great those sounded in your video. They make another gauge that is slightly lighter that I may opt for to put on my five string Rickenbacker.

    I find players use stainless with maple necks for scooped mods…and nickels with rosewood for warm vintage mod boost.

      Jean i prefer the Walkabout, one of my favourite bass amps ever! The big block is cool and versatile but the WA always wins imo, that flavour is just better and more characterful overall. T
