There are more languages my friend, Tulu, Konkani, Urdu, Marathi, Kodava, Sourashtra also spoken in different regions. Especially Karnataka is very multilingual.

My brother is in Airforce he has been part of rescue team in chennai floods. He told me how the prices for him used to get double as they get to know he is from north. So he stopped buying seperately from outside not because he couldn't afford but he felt weird

If you want to travel you should have a basic knowledge of English . You can't expect people in south to speak your language unless you speak their language or speak a common language like English. I have seen North Indians in Indonesia knowing only Hindi and they get in to all kinds of problems with out knowing one bit of English!! So better learn English if you want to travel well.
It's just his point of view. in my personal experience English doesn't matter it really depends on the people. There must be people who have apathy towards Hindi speaking and vice versa.

I live in southern part of india... the main problem is that south indians don't understand that one language should be there as a common language.. if you come to any part of north states or east states or west states and you speak hindi you won't face much problem from wherever you are because we use hindi as a common language but in southern part 4 states have 4 different languages and they expect that you should talk to them in their native language or English... yes a kind of hypocrisy they are not ready to accept hindi which is indian language but they consider English as their own.. people from Northern part won't complain and even learn any language happily if southern states have any common language.. it means you need to learn 4 different language for 4 different states... rigid people. or yahi log jab state k bahar jaate h to khushi khushi hindi bol lete h but jab tak apne state me h inka mental state alag level pe rehta h.. i like my southern states because wo mera bhi hai jitna inka hai...

A humble advice to the vlogger. When you talk in Hindi in Kerala , don't use Hindi words completely. Wherever possible use English term for that Hindi word. Numbers and all please use English instead of saying Chaar KMS say 4 KMS. Pachees rupaya twenty five rupees. Hindi is mandatory subject and is taught in Kerala from 5th std to 10 std. But not everyone knows Hindi as they are not used to speaking in Hindi. If you are using Hindi, please dheere dheere Bolna.. interesting fact is when foreigners come to Kerala they don't feel such difficulty as a Indian from north indian feels.
Indeed true that foreigners have fun in exploring places and hardly have problems communicating with the localites as compared to Indians from the northern and eastern regions. How do they expect localites to understand non-stop and continuous Hindi?!? Having said that, this kind of travelling helps understand local culture, food habits, tolerance, patience, way of living etc.

No matter where you go you must understand that their language is important to them. Most Hindi speakers travel everywhere with so much self righteousness and confidence that others should speak Hindi. You are saying they didn’t understand your language as if it’s his mistake . I live in southern part of india... the main problem is that south indians don't understand that one language should be there as a common language.. if you come to any part of north states or east states or west states and you speak hindi you won't face much problem from wherever you are because we use hindi as a common language but in southern part 4 states have 4 different languages and they expect that you should talk to them in their native language or English... yes a kind of hypocrisy they are not ready to accept hindi which is indian language but they consider English as their own.. people from Northern part won't complain and even learn any language happily if southern states have any common language.. it means you need to learn 4 different language for 4 different states... rigid people. or yahi log jab state k bahar jaate h to khushi khushi hindi bol lete h but jab tak apne state me h inka mental state alag level pe rehta h.. i like my southern states because wo mera bhi hai jitna inka hai...
and let me clear one thing... its not like only you guys love your native language... everyone love their native language but we are not that much aggressive and rigid that we cant speak a common language... no one is forcing you not to speak in your native language but at least have some common sense that everyone don't understand your native language

A humble advice to the vlogger. When you talk in Hindi in Kerala , don't use Hindi words completely. Wherever possible use English term for that Hindi word. Numbers and all please use English instead of saying Chaar KMS say 4 KMS. Pachees rupaya twenty five rupees. Hindi is mandatory subject and is taught in Kerala from 5th std to 10 std. But not everyone knows Hindi as they are not used to speaking in Hindi. If you are using Hindi, please dheere dheere Bolna.. interesting fact is when foreigners come to Kerala they don't feel such difficulty as a Indian from north indian feels.
Indeed true that foreigners have fun in exploring places and hardly have problems communicating with the localites as compared to Indians from the northern and eastern regions. How do they expect localites to understand non-stop and continuous Hindi?!? Having said that, this kind of travelling helps understand local culture, food habits, tolerance, patience, way of living etc.
