  • This 40 minute guided Stick Mobility TORQUE full body workout features joint mobilization, stability and strength training, and dynamic stretching. The focus of this class is rotational movement through a variety of angles. Tense bodies resist motion and this class applies the concept of torque - twisting or turning under tension to improve shoulder, spine, and hip range of motion.
This workout is a wonderful introduction to Stick Mobility for beginners and utilizes common stances we find ourselves taking daily.
You'll need one stick for this workout, and while I'm using a 5ft stick, you can use a shorter or longer stick, based on your size and the space you're in.

Regular stretching and joint mobilization is important for everyone to improve balance and stability, reduce pain, and prevent injury. Whether you're a just starting out on your fitness journey or a seasoned athlete, mobility and flexibility are an important additions to the work. We build upon simple movements throughout the video and any exercise can be modified for your level today.
Understanding that each day is different and even each side of the body is different, and will vary from day to day. Move to your comfort level knowing that the work you do here will strengthen the body and over time you will see progress.
I recommend doing this workout barefoot, as you see I am in the video. Bare feet allows for greater body awareness and it's important to be working foot mobility as it affects how we stand and walk!
As always, do what feels right for you. If you need a break, take breaks. If you need to modify, that is always welcome. These exercises may be challenging, but you should never take a move into the point of pain. LESS IS MORE! If you experience pain at any point, ease off the intensity, angle, or end range you are moving into and walk the movement back to a place of control and comfort.
    Equipment Needed: One Stick.

Yay! It's such a great tool! You can do a lot with a stick, but when you try the stick mobility stick you see how much more is possible. So glad you're liking it!

"I feel like I'm ready for anything now." I felt the same way after doing this so I know where you're coming from! There are so many people who never utter those words, which is sad and it doesn't have to be that way. I'm in awe of the versatity and vast health benefits a simple stick (or a higher tech one like you're using) can provide to anybody with a few bucks and some healthy aspirations. It's an important message that you demo and deliver with your usual charm and charisma which is the icing on the cake!

Steve I'm so glad you are sharing that you felt ready for anything after doing this! Whether you have the stick mobility sticks or are using a broomstick or swiffer, it doesn't matter! Doing whatever you are capable of in the moment brings that confident and capable feeling. It's all about doing what you can!

Is it okay to use a weighted stick with this? I have a 5 lb weighted stick, but it is not flexible.

You can! You may find some exercises are more challenging, so feel free to modify if you need. And since the stick doesn't bend, don't force it. It's just a different tool that will work differently!
