- WOOOOOO FINALLY DONE WITH THIS. The entire underworld Saga just makes me cry and AAAAAAAAAAAAA. This is officially my first full finished animatic and I'm REALLY happy with how it turned out. Why is Telemachus the person for “a brother’s final stand” though? That’s the only thing I don’t understand from the scenes used in the prophecy.

While I understand that portrayal, I think it's just in the way of a general description of what's happening in your future, and in the Odyssey itself his whole prophecy ends with "and it shall happen exactly as I fortell"

it also works because of the line "i see past and future running free". everyone assumes that the "song of past romance" is penelope, therefore tying it in, but it really could be referring to either past or future. incredibly clever, tbh.
I have a different view of this! I think it's far less linear! Past romance could easily refer to either Penelope or in a way, Circe. Sacrifice of man where Poseidon destroyed them. Or even the trojan war. They sacrificed their humanity in the war. Portrayals of betrayal has yet to happen. Time and time again, Eurolychus has questioned him. Yes, they opened the bag, but is that truly a betrayal? No. What is a betrayal is a mutiny that leads to a final stand. With Eurolychus who is like a brother to him. I don't know the story of the Oddysesy. But I can see that final stand ending in Eurolychus about to beat Odysseus because Odysseus won't fight back. That final breath- that's where he changes. Where he chooses between his brother and his wife. He is no longer the man who left Itchia when he makes it back. Taking Euroyluchus' life changed him. It pushed him far past monster. Instead, it made him a man who is hunting. Someone who has seen so much death and killed so much he doesn't know how to do anything else anymore.
this is probably my favorite 'no longer you' animatic of what i've seen, if only because of switching the imagery for the chorus and playing with the different meanings of each line.

Ugh I LOVE how different the imagery is for the chorus because technically, MANY of the things Ody has been through could count for EACH one of those. The fact that you didn't use the same imagery each time is a SMART CHOICE. Using Hector's son made me audibly gasp and I love when creators push the boundaries. Good job!
This is probably my favourite interpretation of what Tiresias sees. Both past and future
the set of events that were mentioned in the lyrics eventually leading up to the reveal in this animatic that the man the prophet was pertaining to as the "man who is haunting a man with a trail of bodies" who he saw with Odysseus' wife, is actually just Odysseus, just in a later time wherein he eventually accepted his fate as the monster is SO damn good

I love how the first time the prophet is saying the chorus, it portrays the past. After the first chorus ends, he then begins to speak on the future of what is to happen. Also, I think the bass with the choir in the background accurately depicts the feeling of anxiety and realization that Odysseus will never be the man he was before, Brilliant artwork and great storytelling!

I’m in love with the scene where “No longer you” and then it shows the figure being a disheveled odyssey who kinda going crazy

This is fabulous! Absolutely loved the switch from past to future when the prophecy repeats, and what you chose to associate to each line (the shot of Astyanax on the 'sacrifice of man' line made me gasp out loud!)
Edit: Also that reveal of Odysseus's face at the end is just so perfectly timed on the drumbeat
Not just that, but it being I believe Polites in the first depiction of “a brother’s final stand” as he’s killed by Polyphemus.
As the other commenters have stated, the usage of different events to represent the first and second repeats of his prophecy is quite clever. I also really like how threatening the "mysterious man" is. Well done!

I love the fact that when the Prophet says " I See The Sacrifice Of Man" It shows Scylla killing the 6 men that Odysseus had light torches which is actually mentioned in the Thunder Saga

Though, I have to agree a bit, since I like to believe the reason prophecies are vague, is because you can choose how they come true, differently influencing the world in the proccess, depending on the path you take.

When you weren’t listening in class and the teacher asks a couple questions, so you end up saying the exact same thing as the person before you:
FIRST FULL ANIMATIC??? You could've fooled me XD I love so many part of this--the art style, the way the dark, blurred figure is revealed to be Odysseus, the way Telemachus' face is blurred...I think my favorite part is (no surprise; everyone's saying it XD) the way the chorus shows the past the first time around, and the future the second time. Bravo!!
The reveal at the end that the man who "is no longer you" is indeed Odysseus but "Monster" style was chef kiss

Gotta give you props my friend! When I first heard the song my exact thoughts were that the prophet could be referring to past events in the first chorus and then prophesying of the future in the last chorus. You absolutely nailed it! Well done!
I love how for the first time the chorus comes up, you show things that has happened prior to Ody coming the Tiresias (I think I spelled that right) while the second time is stuff that are going to happen after Ody leaves the Underworld. Love it!

Great call on making the "other man" a blurred, mysterious (and creepy!) figure! Even though I had heard the song before, the imagery made me question the narrative anew; the character's pain at learning of his wife being with another man was conveyed even more impactfully thanks to that!
This definitely the best animatic I've seen for "No Longer You" and I loved the visions.
I hadnt realized what he had ment when he was talking about what he had seen before. Like when he talks about a brothers final stand he is talking about polites. THAT IS SO FREAKING COOL!
I love, love, LOVE that you did flashbacks during the prophet's first chorus and then flashes of the future in the second one, reiterating that the prophet has seen both the past and the future. That is so good!
For some reason I really like the idea of Tiresias having a young man apperance. And he looks so cool in your style I loved his hair 😭😭Also, Polites and Telemachus... Why you must hurt me this way 😔 (plz do it again xD)
One thing I really enjoy about this is that Tiresias shows the past as well as the future, works as a call back to the first verse and helps to prove to Odysseus that he truly is the prophet, for how else would he know these things

I love this version of the animatic because it helps show both how prophesy is always up for interpretation and that it’s never completely clear what it’s about, and that the future echoing the past, having similar events that line up with the prophesy, shows Odysseus following the adage “those who never learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

This is REALLY cool, I like how you switched up all of the imagery changes, with the first verse being the past and the second being the future, t made it a lot more intersting, and I like all of the desings for all the characters, I love it.
This might be my favorite animatic version, because of the dichotomy between past and future and the way you sold the WHO (Odysseus said calmly)

Your animatic made me realize that the prophet’s lyrics aren’t just foreshadowing Odysseus’s literal death, but his metaphorical one as well.
Every emotional beat of the song is enhanced further by your wonderful illustrations, which are timed perfectly.

This one captures the ending perfectly with the hair covering Odysseus's eye. Which reminds me of the cyclops while hearing "Polyphemus" being sung in the background.
Makes for a sweet transition into Monster.
Ok but the first "I see a song of past romance..." being events from act one and before while the second version are the future events of the musical is so genius and lines up with Tiresias as quoted by Jorge "Sees all of time, all the time"

1:50 I like how the "WHO" frame is in red foreshadowing the later reveal not to mention how his anger in this moment (at the idea of losing his wife to a bad or lesser man) is most likely the same anger that posseses him when massacaring the (relatively) unarmed suitours. This is a bit more of a stretch but I imagine that anger subtly lays in his sacrafice to Scyla aswell, just utterly thinking of everyone else and their goals as lesser to his, most likely a trauma response due to sacrafices he has already made for a mission he thinks is only to his own benefit at the expense of his men (although I am sure they would also like to get home just as much as he does, Odessyuys just sees that as less important than him returning,) so every death is in sacrafice to his return such as those who died as the giant slowly succumed to the lotus wine, simply buyers of time and sellers of life. All born from this anger towards even the idea of failing to return home, mixed with the sunk cost fallacy the tragedies unavoiadable, and sacrafices neccesary, has taken upon him.
also 2:00-2:05 looks like lighting on top the screen with the scribbles kinda looking like clouds which may be a reach but it reminds me of "Thunder Bringer" especially considering he was saying he sees him on the brink of death when it happens. Which he very much was when Zues approached him and made him choose.
The ending was epic, pun intended

Tiresias: Holy Hera, dude it’s you, you’re the monster, you even sang a song about it on your way here. Gods you dumb heroes not getting obvious metaphors! If you want to avoid this fate just try not to do something stupid or arrogant that causes you to be this monster and you should be fine.

This is the first time I've seen someone make use of his claim of past and future sight; I absolutely love it!!!!
I LOVE how this implies that Odysseus knows what’s coming and THATS why he acts the way he does why he resolves to be the monster and betrays his men why he isn’t suprised in mutiny and when he ends up on calypso’s island he is READY to fight her but then realizes that she might not have been a monster in the vision but “past romance” and he begins to flip out and keeps his distance. REFUSING to let that part of the prophecy come to pass. Even if he never sees his wife again it’s better then betraying her…
The animatic is amazing, but also about the song itself: I love its' representation of what it's like to be in the underworld. You CAN NOT just easily communiccate with the dead, and neither can THEY! The tragedy that even though Tiresias wants to help, (he is a prophet after all) he, literally, CAN NOT BE LESS CRYPTIC, he is dead! And so the ONLY thing left for him to try is just repeat what he said, hoping that Odysseus would finally get it.
The prophet reminds me of Pariah, refugee of another world, cursed with foresight, doomed to see humanity repeat the same mistakes over and over again and unable to do anything about it

I was watching this masterpiece when I noticed in the 1:46 when it said "WHO?!" there was a clarification between parenthesis that said "Odysseus asked, calmly" and "insert owl emoji" I LOVED THAT JAJKSHAKSHAHS
Ps: you missed the opportunity to say "nobody asked calmly" but even without that joke it was absolutely amazing
