Saw him twice in Norman, Oklahoma. The first time I think him and his band played to maybe 20 people. The second time, somewhere around fifty. A lady I was dating at those times actually interviewed him for the OU student paper. She asked the question (I'm paraphrasing) "why do you think you aren't more popular?" She meant well, and had a point because he should be the number 1 selling Americana artist in my opinion, but I can't imagine what he thought about such a brutal question from a goddamn, no name college newspaper student with no credentials. If I remember correctly he answered something like "I don't know".
Can this dude ever write a song without referencing a chick. Seriously, every song is about some PIA chick. Music has gone down the tubes for many many years. Zero creatively and horrible song writing continues in the music business.
