    Thanks for the information, I’m becoming a sophomore in highschool this year so I really needed this to get me off to a good start to see what I’ll experience in college an what I can do to be prepared for all of these events.

    Thanks for the great video. My two youngest sons want to compete in college even if they have to walk on. My junior placed 1st in the 6A 4x400 state championships his sophomore year and as an alternate he held the school record for about a month in the 4x200. My freshman took 1st at his conference meet in HJ as an 8th grader and holds the school record there. I'll send them this video so they can start to understand what it takes.

      +John Coleman congrats. Tell them to keep it up. Remember the awards don't matter, it's the actual marks. Some athletes may be the best in their state but still not get recruited. Example, one year a jumper from Connecticut won her state TJ championship with 36', when 43' was the top mark here in CA. Have them keep their goals high and compete to be their best. All will fall into place. :-)

    Love the information Sir, thank you very much.
    Question for you. My daughter is a freshman, and runs the 200m and 400m. While at the state championships this season, she attracted the attention of a couple private club coaches, who invited her to try-out for their respective teams. She made one of the teams (this particular coach has a great reputation among people in the know). He trains his team year round, and they compete indoors in the winter. When high school track season begins, each kid goes out to their individual school and works with their school coaches and team, and he picks it back up after state. He is pretty high on my daughter's potential (so he says), and made the suggestion that she forgo the other High School sports starting as a Sophomore, and focus solely on track. Track is definitely her love, but she likes to play soccer too, and she would have to give it up in order to train T&F in the fall. As her Dad, I want what is best for her both mentally and physically. She is leaning towards quiting soccer.
    My question is about specializing as a teenager: is it safe? Do you recommend such a path? She is the most self-motivated, hardest working 15-year-old girl I have ever personally seen, but I worry about things, like being well rounded and even potential burn out.
    Sorry for such a long message, I hope you can give some insite or opinion.
    I wish you nothing but the absolute best in all that you do.

    I just read the standards that the athletics recruiting channel linked, but there are no multi-event scores, do you happen to know what I should shoot for for d1 decathlon? I just finished my sophomore year and I get around mid 5000's for it

    Hello Mr. Briggs,
    Thank you for the information you displayed. I am a junior college track athlete. Is it a different recruiting process for me compared to highschool students? Also do my SAT/ACT scores from highschool subside or do I have to retake them?

    I am a Current Junior with a 4.06 GPA from North Carolina and I'm a distance runner with PRs of: 400m 59.69 800m 2:08(4X8 spilt) 1600m 4:54 3200m 10:56 5000m 17:08 all the times except for my 5000m are from my sophomore year since I have only ran cross country so far this year. I have filled out a couple questionnaires to different schools such as Fresno State and UNC Chapel hill and I just wanted to know is it realistic for me to run D1 with a scholarship? and I honestly believe I'm a late bloomer, since I have never had a real coach for sometime now

    International student,4.0 gpa and almost 48ft Triple jumper, didnt take SAT yet but I am sure I can get over 1500 (3 part) based on my current practise. What are my chances for division I ? How much I need to improve in triple jump. I heard that 49.5-50.5ft is enough for 100% scolarship , and If I do better than 1500 SAT will that affect my scolarship? I am from poor country, so I want 100% scolarship if possible

    • @keinanbriggs
      @keinanbriggs  9 лет назад +2

      +Nemanja Koviljac each school has different requirements. It may be more of a challenge for International Students. Shoot an email to the coach asking about what marks you will have to hit. 49-5.50 is a great HS mark, keep it up. 1500+ SAT score will help you out a lot. You should also search for grants and academic scholarships.

      +keinan briggs I thought after I do SAT and after I finish my indoor season (in February) to start sending emails to universities around USA. What is HS? Do you maybe know some videos or blogs on how to improve sprinting technique, cause my running tecnique sucks I can send you a video and I am rly slow (11.7-100m stopwatch). With good sprinting technique and improved speed I think I could jump a lot more. Thank you

    • @keinanbriggs
      @keinanbriggs  9 лет назад

      +Nemanja Koviljac (HS = High school) Start contacting schools and coaches NOW. Don't wait, open the communication now. Upload a video to RUclips of you sprinting email the video to info@keinanbriggs.com 11.7 is not D1 quality speed however you can always improve. In Ca, our top 10 girls all ran sub 11.7.

      +Nemanja Koviljac Each division (D1, D2, D3) and even conferences within those divisions each have their own recruiting standards. Check out my page at athleticsrecruiting.com/trackandfieldrecruitingstandards.html and look at the charts. You can decide where you fit in, then go after those coaches/schools specifically. - Greg Pereira, AthleticsRecruiting.com
