as a disabled person and wheelchair user who's been asking for disability rep in the sims for yearsss this made me so happy. for such a great cause too
This is so lovely. I basically lived at gosh from 6-14 due to my chronic illness. My family and I often stayed in the hospital hotel for long periods of time, so seeing this makes me tear up a little. Great Ormond Street is such a wonderful hospital and they really put the effort and care in for not only the patients, but their families also. I’m very grateful for them. And thank you Jessica for this video, you’re such a wonderful soul and you always put heart into your builds!🧡

Thank you for this. I stayed in a little bedsit flat at hospital with my mum when my dad was really sick, and the fact that someone somewhere donated to buy tea/coffee, milk, cereal and bread, to keep the flats stocked, was so nice. I dunno who was buying the cornflakes back in 2002 but it was real nice of them to think about the basic stuff for us when we were busy with bigger stuff.
I think a lot of hospitals have some accommodation, especially for EOL care patients' families and if they live far away, but obviously with GOSH it's more pressing because kids need their families more than adult patients, and because many families will be travelling a lot further for the highly specialised care there.
GOSH reminds me of St Jude’s here in the States. I love love love this build and it’s inclusivity!! Keep up the wonderful work ❤
I used to work for a non-profit in the US which does the same thing for families of Veterans and active duty military. I can affirm the gift comfort homes like this provide for families and their patients. It's holy work. Will donate to GOSH as soon as the video ends. Thanks for doing this, Jessica. So glad to see representation in your builds! As a disabled person myself I think the sims has a loooooong way to go, but I’m glad there are advocates out there!

This build is absolutely amazing!
Honestly I’ve sort of given up hope on seeing representation for physical disabilities in the sims 4, though I’m hoping it’s better in the sims 5. My one wish for this game though would be that the sims team would actually make the elevators functional, even if there is no animation for them. It’s been bugging me especially now that we can build our own apartments, they almost feel like a necessity now. Not only would they add a bit of realism but gameplay wise they would be super convenient too. I just hope that the sims team is thinking these things through for the next iteration

What GOSH is doing is so important! As a medical student I know just how important it is to have someone that loves you by your side while healing. And I also know first hand how stressful and worrying is to have a sick family member at the hospital far away from you, I can’t even begin to imagine how much worse it must be for parents of little kids. Thanks for doing this🫶🏻

In the US, the Ronald McDonald houses are similar to this home. My niece and family stay in one when she gets treatment for her hemophilia. This is an awesome cause, and makes me appreciate you as a creator even more.

I've been watching your channel for at least a year now and in that year I've improved my building skills in the sims and I've even manage to get my younger sister and my mum into the sims 4.
my mum is disabled and feel like most places we've been haven't been wheelchair assessable.💜

LOVE the story behind your build. I think that's great and will be glad to donate :) At one point I was a single mama and was running out of money. I had maxed a credit card just to pay bills. Thankfully things fell into place, but I wouldn't have known what to do. Thankfully places like this exist!

I know it’s cheaper for EA to just add rainbow flags and pronoun options to make the game “more inclusive”, but true inclusion would be having ramps, wheelchairs, even walking sticks…
Both of those are inclusive. Two things can be true at once. There's no reason to dog one in favor of another when both should be added to any life simulator. You know people can be disabled and a part of the LGBT community, right?
@@haunted-but-holy i think they mean it’s easier to code in flags or pronoun options, but having disability aids would require EA to structurally reformat the game and they would never. both are definitely inclusive ofc!
@@sheree._.agreed, but they’re not going to do that this late in the game regardless, I reckon they will in the sims 5, especially if they’re involved in videos like this and their creator has to spend half an hour trying to make a wheelchair… it’s not a good look at all.

I would absolutely love to get to play with cottage living again💜💜, I had a couple expansions and game packs on my xbox but my xbox doesnt work anymore and since the sims 4 can’t transfer from console to other devices, I now have the base game on my laptop and a few stuff packs we got for free…

As a wheelchair user, the idea behind this video makes me happy. Sadly, the apartments themselves would not be very accessible. Neither would the parking lot, as the cars are too close together to get a wheelchair out.
