The Matrix is one of those rare perfect films, in my opinion. Not a single frame is wasted in The Matrix, that's how good that film is.

Yeah, well if it wasn't for that Grand Canyon sized gapping plot hole of the "matrix" simulation being unnecessary while we are being farmed for energy. We would just be put in a comatose vegetative state with no higher brain functions and thus a "simulation' for us to live in would be useless and not worth all the trouble of creating in the first place.

At 20:00 the Oracle offers Neo a cookie.there is more here than this simple scene. Remember they are inside the software program of the Matrix and the Oracle ( a programlike being ) just offered a cookie that he accepts . You do it everyday on your computer,,,,,taking cookies you are offered what your computer program asks if you will accept a cookie.

    • @ericechols6056

I read a reply on a channel about the Matrix movie, concerning what you said, of the cookie Neo ate was a program in a long-drawn-out explanation, but you explained it more clearly, after all these years I get it. The cookie program was hidden in plain sight all along. Thanks @MatthewPettyST1300! 😃👍

    • @paulgunderson4721

To add to this, in the pre-internet days there was a program called The Oracle run out of Purdue University, iirc. One asked a question, the Oracle answered (all text, of course, due to very low bandwidth) and at the end the Oracle would give a (non-existent/virtual) cookie. Cool, fun, silly.

The Matrix was ground-breaking on so many levels and 20+ years later, it's still being talked about seriously as a template and will probably be talked about heavily 50+ years later. It's coming back around full-circle now because of AI tech and how it's evolving so the plot of the movie remains at least somewhat relevant, albeit perhaps exaggerated. As a young teen, I became obsessed with this movie when it came out and tried to find shades exactly like Neo wore and have my hair like his. 🤣

  • @KentBalzer

I saw this movie when it came out in 1999 and it changed me. I walked out of the theater and looked at the sky and wondered if we are all just living in a virtual reality. There are more Matrix movies. The second one has even better special effects and is more action packed. The third one is more dark and depressing, but gives the right conclusion to the series. Overall, the first movie is the best because it is so profound.

But before reacting to matrix 2 reloaded, you really MUST react to the animatrix.
These are 9 shorts stories on the matrix universe who helps to understand it and to elarge the universe and the lore. Actually there are only 4 of the 9 that really matters to better understand the matrix sequels :
-The second Renaissance : It's a matrix prequel which tells what happened between humans and machines and why the matrix was created
    -A kid's story : Origin story of a new character in matrix 2 & 3
-Last flight of the Osiris : It's an introduction to matrix reloaded, litterally a couple of hours before.
Btw, matrix 2 (reloaded) and matrix 3 (revolutions) are actually a 4 hours film cut in two parts (they were shot back to back) and this is why they were both released the same year with only a 6 months gap. A little bit like the lord of the rings wich were shot back to back as well.

It Wasn't, love's kiss. In Medieval Times, when they cut people's heads off, they would ask the head questions, and the head would answer by blinking their eyes.
And yeah I know how that sounds. But it was discovered that the head would actually live separate from the body for as much as 2 minutes.
Therefore, it is entirely possible that Neo heard Trinity talking to him, after he was shot dead. And that her kiss, simply reminded him of who, and Where he was.

13:13 This character, Tank, admittedly, is a _supporting_ character, but as far as supporting characters go, I liked him. The actor who played him, though, conducted himself in an _especially_ unintelligent manner, during contract negotiations for the sequels.
His name's Marcus Chong. The Wachowskis offered him $250,000 to continue his character in both sequels, but he declined it, arguing that he was owed _twice_ that, in addition to bonuses and guarantees he would be invited to press junkets and premieres.
That much would've been enough to end his contract, but it went beyond that. When he also started making threatening phone calls, he was arrested for it and blackballed from Hollywood.
Tank is a genius, but Chong was an idiot.

'The Matrix' was made into a trilogy w/ Pt. 2 ('Matrix: Reloaded') and Pt. 3 ('Matrix: Revolutions')... A 4th movie 'Matrix: Resurrections' was made recently without Lawrence Fishburne ('Morpheus') and Hugo Weaving ('Agent Smith') and it flopped... I recommend the trilogy.
The premise of 'Matrix' was that 'Neo' (whose name spells O-N-E) was originally born within the Matrix and had the power to change it as he pleased, was the one who freed a number of humans from bondage and led them to the underground city they called 'Zion'.
After he died, the 'Oracle' within the Matrix prophesied his return... Morpheus was one of a few dedicated to finding Neo...
Now, Agent Smith revealed that the Matrix was once built to be a perfect world, but human minds did not accept the program and thousands died as a result... So, the Matrix was re-designed to be more accommodating to reality of how the A.I. remembered the world of 1999.
The question also remains: How many times was the Matrix re-designed?
Going into the 2nd movie, the A.I. machines are not just 'agents' within the Matrix or 'squiddies' in the real world... There are numerous forms of A.I. within the Matrix that were assigned to maintain and function within that system ... They live and work within the Matrix and are subject to changes or being replaced over time... That should make thing a bit less complicated to finish the trilogy.
And there are more revelations about Neo and the Oracle...

32:31 "There _must_ be a second movie of this."
And a third. And a direct-to-DVD animated special called _The Animatrix._ But, honestly, I don't think they contribute a whole lot. Personally, I think this movie was intended as a standalone. I mean, if you can believe it, the special effects in _Reloaded_ and _Revolutions_ were _orders of magnitude_ better, but they didn't really help the story.
I think it would've been better to end the franchise with _this_ movie, with the exciting world of _limitless possibilities_ brought by the Neo-equipped resistance here that was _already_ posing _serious_ problems for the machines before recruiting this mother-of-all-super-soldiers.

I forget, why was there a blue pill, anyway. To make you sleep and forget all that, to offer a choice? The red one was not enough to show that you could experience true reality, not the Matrix version, Alice in W. reference? Actually, the water everywhere on the night that Neo traversed these two dimensions was interesting too, especially the drinking and travelling via it later. The sages in the world lore claim that we travel in our mind, 'time-travel' style and pass through watery portals to reach our wanted destination. They are our canals of whirling passages we must move in to get to the other side. And that drinking the pure well-water of the Earth, and bathing in it is essential for cleaning chemicals. The Earth cleans the water by filtering it through layers, like plants and animals can rid toxins naturally passing through their systems. Air-borne toxins are washed away by using pure water, too.

that disc could only hold 1.44MB, by todays standards an unfathomably small amount of storage, it could hold a small program, or about 15-20 pictures. or about 144,000 words of text.. and he paid $2000 dollars for it... likely that would make it a specialized hacker tool or blackmail information, they never really go into it.
