This is one of the most innovative collaborations of the last 20+ years. I only own Transform and Xerrox Vol 1 by Carsten on vinyl (bought way back in the day) but he's been one of the most influential artists for me personally. I'd go as far as to say that Carsten even reinvigorated Ryuichi in the early 00s (and that's quite astonishing considering how groundbreaking Sakamoto has been himself). Excellent stuff! Thank you!
In spirit and sound it reminds me a bit of some solo works of Roedelius from Kluster/Cluster who I also appreciate very much. 87 years old and still rather active, including live concerts.
Thanks for bringing this to my/our attention. I have loved all of these since their release, but only had the cds. Now I will have the entire series on vinyl!
Fantastic - ordering today! I *just* Discogged a copy of ‘Neo Geo’ yesterday from a European seller. Already picked up the reissues from We Want Sounds.
Q: did anybody pre-order from Amazon in the CONUS and take delivery? Mine went into pre-order Limbo. After two weeks of watching the Amazon Global inventory diminish I placed an order elsewhere and canceled my Amazon US order.
following up my own post (again) ... I know, I know... third time is the charm: order arrived from Pop Market - defective :-( Issued a return and placed an order from Amazon Global - a week later I've *finally* received a playable copy. Very much enjoy having this on Vinyl - hope they see fit to release "Insen" or "UTP"! Thanks for posting this clip otherwise I might not have know "Vrioon" saw a Vinyl release.

Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto! One of my favorite albums. Wish I could find that on vinyl where I'm from. Cool find. 🙂
Thanks Michael. I'll give this a bit of airplay over the weekend and see if it sticks. I played the first track a few minutes ago over Apple Music and it reminds me a bit of some of the Thom Yorke solo work. I wonder did they influence him at all. Anyway thanks for the heads up on this album. As always - great videos. Have a nice weekend.
Won´t be buying this piece and have nothing of value to contribute but loved your vivid articulation on the brilliance of this album, so a comment for them algorithms i suppose today! Cheers.
Bestellt über deinen Link, auch wenn ich affiliate mit jpc oder hhv bevorzuge würde, ein klasse Album. Mein Frau denkt ich hab einen Knall wenn ich es höre 😅
Great review as always. On a separate note, I know you don’t tend to do a lot of reggae but you should take a look at Steel Pulse, True Democracy-VMP!!
Thank you once again for a great recommendation Michael! Can’t wait to listen to this one! Will you have links for the other installments in this Virus series?
Wow! I didn't know about this release! It's all sold out now... by the way, I understand you own 2 dogs. How do you keep your vinyl so clean with 2 dogs at home with them shedding their fur all the time? It's driving me crazy to keep my vinyl clean of dog fur!
There are some more exotic Japanese electronica/avantgarde LPs which are even more expensive. 🙂I suppose they were originally only pressed in very small numbers.
I hope this isn’t considered blasphemy on your channel, but I think there are some recordings that I prefer to listen to on a digital format, and this is one. Primarily because I’d be afraid I couldn’t tell the difference between the intentional pops and clicks and surface noise. I’d probably keep returning it. “There’s too much noise on this record!” “Uh, sir. It’s supposed to sound like that.”
This particular album originally has VERY clear beeps and bass, and the piano is perfectly recorded in silence. At least for the original tracks you wouldn't mistake anything. That said, if it was your first time listening to the album, it'd definitely be awkward to figure out what if anything Alva Noto put on the record. And anyway, I don't know what the bonus sounds like. (But I've been waiting for a release of 'cité radieuse' since forever, I've almost forgotten what it sounds like. Having the albums handy is a huge factor in keeping the audio in your head, I'm afraid.)
Truly, I admire your catholic tastes but this minimalist music is not for me. I find it boring and I doubt that giving it time to sink in would help. Life is too short and there’s so much music that I love. Clearly, many would disagree and kudos to them for appreciating something that is beyond abilities to decipher.

Deine Begeisterung ansich u. für das Vinyl im allgemeinen sind ansteckend.
Das macht mich happy. :-)

Das freut mich 🤗

Got my copy today :-D
I will take time tomorrow to go through it. Can’t wait now that you talk about it !

Thanks for the video Michael. Just streamed this and ordered immediately. Stunning.
Agree. This is a very special collaboration. My copy of the reissue is on the way.
And I do love the cover!
its so cool
So good. My fave of this collab series is INSEN.
Just superb.
Commissioned :) great video Michael. It's always great to have Fred's participation
Thanks for the heads up on this one! I love both of these guys, but hadn't heard this album until right now! ❤

Wow! Thank you. I’ll definitely give this one a shot.
Ordered it instantly, thank you so much for the recommendation
Great one. Worth checking the Morelembaum/Sakamoto collaboration, two masterpieces. Great to see this Alva Noto back

Cant wait till the new Richter Vivaldi Recomposed comes out. I hope you pick it up and review. Thank you. I enjoy your channel
I actually order this too. I have a very satisfying ambient vinyl collection but rarely talk about it because I have a very small follower count. lol
oh wow! Another thing down of my list. All I need in my life now is the Downward spiral by nin. They haven't repressed that for 5 years by now
Thank you once again for a great recommendation Michael! Can’t wait to listen to this one!

Hi Michael do you ever run out of space to store records with all the new records you get thanks

Its not a problem with Whippets
i would love more Sakamoto, but man some of his vinyls are so pricey.

@@markusberzborn6346 I'm not surprised. Some of his presentations are amazing but even the basis releases are going for like 400-500.
