Good afternoon Sir, just been checking out your video on where you live , we are arriving in Naplion in mid September and would like to ask you which fish restaurant you would recommend to us , keep up the great videos, we are also driving to Kalamata where we are seriously thinking about retiring to .
I would have a look at Myloi, along the coast, there are a couple of tavernas there by the little harbour. It is also where Hercules slew the Hydra, by the by...
Glad you enjoyed, and I will have a look at your channel too. especially appreciated from a fellow travel YT. 2 nights, perhaps 3 is perfect in Nafplio, and it is an ideal base for exploring the historical sites of the local area. When are you coming?
@@GreeceExplored We've been in Athens for about a month, and we're staying here for another 2 months. We're not sure when we'll head to Nafplio, probably in May when the weather is better! Thanks for checking out our channel, we really appreciate it!
Thanks for divulging this secret place 😊! Hopefully we don’t get run over by too many tourists. Btw on your beach comment - the beaches and swimming places around here are fantastic but I’ll keep those secret!
Just watched it. Consider visiting Kyparissia sometime.Well situated. They have downtown and then uptown with a statue of my great aunt, uptown@@GreeceExplored
I actually went to Kyparissia but I never made a video, I didn't find anything I could really recommend - sorry. I am sure it is great, but as you know, there is no real seafront, and the town is nice, but not somewhere I felt I could recommend specifically visiting. I am happy to revisit if you can direct me as to how I should approach it.@@billmeret
This is not easy, it is easy to get a bad deal as a foreigner. I suggest that you 1. find an area you like, 2. Explore the area and look for developments. If you can contact and buy directly from a developer. It is best though to buy something that is completed. Try to avoid real estate agents and online sites, they are not regulated and often not very factually accurate..... 3. If you don't speak Greek, get a Greek Lawyer and Greek accountant who speak English. 4. Assume that if they can everyone will make money off you, and not necessarily make it visible to you... 5. Don't do any of it remotely... It took us years, we purchased direct from a developer, in an area we had researched and knew, and my wife speaks Greek. Sorry to be so, negative, but buyer beware in Greece, you can get a great deal, but you have to put in the work on the ground.
@@darlenemyles9375 No, your best bet if you don't want to drive would be a Ktel bus, likely Patras to Corinth and then Corinth to Nafplio, but check the timetables.
Hi Andrew we are going to be spending a week in the Peloponnese in August. What is Nafplio like during the August 15 holiday? Will it be a zoo or will it be quiet like Athens (i've heard everyone leaves town for festival). Would it be rude to check in/out of a hotel on the 15th? We dont want to ruin anyones day😅
Nafplio will be busy, it is the 15th as you say, but everywhere other than Athens will be busy (though the centre can still be too). I would not worry about the date and just enjoy, everyone likes to see holidaymakers all year round!
Outside Nafplio? it is harder, Tiryns is very close, like 3km, but you would need tour, or maybe a taxi for other sites like Mycenae or Epidaurus. A car is best to be honest. Argos and Lerna (Myloi) are served by public buses.
@GreeceExplored is there a ticket counter on the spot or we have to buy it online? Because we will be arriving at lunch time and taking the metro to Athens to grab a taxi to get to the station.
raid I haven't been to Volos so can't really offer an opinion. Looking at photos online they look very different for comparison. Volos looks larger, Nafplio prettier. Nafplio is fab as a base for exploring Mycenaean and Hellenic sites nearby.
@@Mongoose-ct6us not really, Kalamata is great too, for Mani, Monemvasia, Ancient Messini and Koroni, Pylos etc, but Nafplio has Epidavros, Mycenae, Corinth, Tiryns, and places like Tolo, Paralio Astros. Both are good though. The sites around Nafplio are closer to Nafplio.
I enjoy this city so much , beautiful, friendly, best Gelato in Greece.. Dinner was amazing I recommend this place!!
It is my local town and I agree with everything you say. I love Nafplio too.
@@GreeceExplored I also stayed at Limini Village. WOW stunning 😍
The Mani Peninsula is beautiful.I did a couple of vids on the area.@@tucosalamanca5648
You are 100% correct my friend. It's in my top 5 favorite places to visit in Greece. Absolutely beautiful.
I agree, so under-rated too, should be on most Athens area itineraries
Great video about a great city and region. Shhhh....don't let everyone in on the secret 🙂
As a resident of this beautiful place I can tell you that ship has long since sailed a way😢.
I do love it, I hope more visit!
Beautiful city

Have you been to Kalamata yet? I would also recommend a visit there, is a very relaxed place and great for digital nomads.
Subbed by the way. If you are heading to Nafplio and fancy a coffee, let me know.

I agree there are many, but within Nafplio itself,... I suspect you will have a busy summer though, weather and tourists as a guide at the moment!
❤❤❤
Tolo Beach is a great Beach nearby

Wow amazing how near is Corfu to Nafplio
Not really, need to get a ferry to Patras and then it is about a 2 hour drive....
@@GreeceExplored ok thank you 😊
Can you get another ferry ⛴️ from Patras to Nafplio? If so how long is that journey?

Planning a trip to Nafplio? Take the best book for exploring the streets, squares and castles: NAFPLIO: BIOGRAPHY OF A GREEK TOWN by Matt Stanley.
Hello! Do you think 2 days is too much for Nafplio? Thanks
Not at all, it depends what you like but 1 or 2 nights is perfect to explore, there is loads to see and do.
@@GreeceExplored thank you☺️
Do you know on average for 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment, how much are long-term rentals in Nafplio?
Typically anywhere between 750 and 1200 Euros PCM, depending on location, age and condition
What was the main bus station to take in Athens to travel there to nafplio? Going there in Mai.and possible to pre-purchase the tickets ahead?
You want to go to Kifissos, this is the bus station for a Ktel to Nafplio, takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes usually.
@@GreeceExplored thank you!
