I just received a Charlene de Monaco from High County Roses in Colorado. It's just a baby band rose but it seems o.k. We've had some below freezing weather, but I set it in, out of the wind, and it seems to be adjusting. We'll have some 60 mile an hour wind gusts and maybe snow this next week, so its not getting planted in the ground for a few days. I'm getting a Distant Drums soon, too. Very excited to see that one. My bare root roses from David Austin always take like a month or more to come to life do to Colorados awful weather. Maybe just set your Charlenes out of the way and keep them slightly moist. As long as the stem is green there is still life. Good luck on your roses.
Hi Iris, my Charlene may have a slight chance to survive still but I’m little optimistic and won’t put my hopes to high. I bought distant drums last week and it’s growing how it should and has buds, so I’m very pleased with that .
Hi Ken. You got to get a refund for your princess Charlene. I think that’s 5 of us got one and all died. All refunded. I’m unsure it’s the climate here compared to say france etc. but the roots I think on all of ours were tiny.the cold snap was enough. I hope to try that rose again if I can get hold of it. :)
😂 Hi jaya jay, I thought I would take a loss and call it a day, but since you’ve mentioned it I will contact them and see if they’re willing to refund me. Yes this climate isn’t suitable for this rose and it’s definitely nothing I did wrong. The roots like you said the compost just literally fell apart when I took it out. I would imagine this company would stop selling her because of all this complaints. Thank you Jay Jay for advice.
Jay Jay I purchased princess Charlene de Monaco rose from a local garden centre, in Feb and placed in the garden glass house for several weeks, grown-up well now. I have moved it in a large pot ( 62L) still in the glass house. It now has lovely healthy 4 upright stems ( over 18" ) and 5 buds. The garden centre still have some in stock.
@@Raj-hk5hg Hi Raj you’re definitely the lucky few I have seen to have a good specimen, my sister Lin has one just like yours. Would love to know how yours progress later in the year.
@@Jay_Jay Jay Jay I purchased princess Charlene de Monaco rose from a local garden centre called Henery Street Garden centre. Hope Ken wouldn't read it 😅
I think the company you bought from is the same supplier as mine, mine was bought also from Henry street. Keeping it in the glass house must be the reason why yours survived.
@@kenvoong5977 Hi Ken, yes Henery Street Garden centre is one of the local garden centres for us. I picked it up in person, in Feb and kept in the original pot and place it in green house until end April till it had well established. I recently moved it in a large pot (62L) and now grown up over 20" upright steams with 7 buds. Can't wait to see blooms. Surely You have many more roses to look after and enjoy 🌱
@@Raj-hk5hg yeah I’m not really too bothered about it, best use the pot for Da new release later this month. Would love to know how’s yours get in later in the year Raj.
@@kenvoong5977 yes sure Ken. I have just this morning, moved out this rose onto the patio. I think I should launch YT channel to share all my roses 😅 . Again, I don't have all the time as I am semi retired.
@@Raj-hk5hg we’d love to see your garden Raj. Honestly Raj, I was little afraid at the start but now I really enjoy sharing my experience and garden on RUclips. Definitely makes growing roses so much more fun and rewarding Ps I work 60 hours a week so no excuse from someone who’s is semi retired.
Please post update on your Leonardo da Vinci later in the season. I grow mine in a pot here in Melbourne and I also peg it down to encourage lateral shoots. Last year I had more than 100 flowers in its’ first flush but I suspect because I don’t feed it, it didn’t flower again after that first flush of 100s plus. Curious to see how yours will perform in UK.
Hi carmen, I have two in the pot at the back of garden in full sun and both doing amazing, one particular is magnificent. Leonardo da Vinci flowers repeatedly all summer with long lasting blooms . I should have an update tomorrow and a garden tour as the weather is looking good.
Hello carmen, I have a video “roses for partial shade “ where you can see how beautiful leornardo is grown in a pot at the end of video. He is even better this year.
I can understand why passers-by stop to admire your irises - they are gorgeous! Your AbFab/Julia's Child is doing a lot better than mine which has suffered horribly from shock after I moved it just a foot or two too late this spring! But I think it will at least survive, unlike your poor Princess Charlenes - I think that I would need a lot of persuading to try a 3rd Princess C. after the experiences you've had. I think in your place I would also consider ditching Heidi Klum (named after a stunning German model/TV presenter) unless you have an emotional attachment to it - make room for something you really appreciate?
I totally agree 👍🏻 Heidi klum has never performed well, I will in time find a good replacement. Fingers crossed Da will release something decent later this months.
Very nice ❤️
Lovely to see Welsh poppies. They seed freely all over my area.
@@countesscable yes once you introduce to your garden it will become difficult to control if left alone
