A big thank you to @Vessi for sponsoring this video! I and the Putt family are extremely proud of their daughter Carissa who is representing Team USA at the @worldtriathlon held in Pontevedra Spain. I get to tag along and travel to this magnificent destination in the North Wester part of Spain. Imagine, thirteen thousand visitors and athletes descending to this city of a thousand beaches! Lots of people, lots of sights and of course, lots of great meals. And I have self appointed myself as Carissa official meal advisor for the triathlon and I certainly took my position seriously by searching out the great places to eat!
We started off with one of the most amazing Breakfast buffets I've seen and explored many many tapas and meals. One thing the struck me was the generosity and hospitality of the Spanish people. Plates and plates of fantastic seafood and meats, many of which were offered just so that we can try, and glasses and glasses of spirits, wine and beer that never seem to stop. A little against Carissa's meal plan but if you don't tell, I won't tell. Thank you for joining me on this travel adventure and if you vacation in Spain, I hope some of our experiences can inspire you to explore, travel, and eat!

Love Spanish food. I feel that it is underrated.
The meats and cheeses looked wonderful. I agree with the combo of soft dry cheese and guava paste. What?! Tim complaining no SMALL plates?! I can't believe it. The multiple shots at the end would have done me in! Ha, ha.
They were so generous with their shots and spirits. I got an earful from Carissa's mom as she was concerned it would have impaired her triathlon 😬. Rest assured, she did very well 😃

LOMO is the one you didn't know the name for.
In Iberian cuisine, the lomo is a special feature prized for its unique flavor.
lomo is a sausage made from pork loin. These are two tissues that lie on either side of the spine, below the ribs. The loin offers a flesh that stands out for its tenderness and finesse. It has virtually no fat. The loins are treated with salt which allows them to dry out by absorbing the water and to prepare them for ripening.
The lomo is then marinated according to recipes specific to each producer. Depending on the ingredients used, it can have a very pleasant spicy taste. The sweet pepper (paprika) brings a slight touch of spiciness to enhance the flavor of the lomo and delight your taste buds. Garlic, pepper, bay leaf and other ingredients complete the recipe to enhance the aromatic notes of the lomo.
"Cava" is just a Catalan word for "cave" or "cellar." And while it may not sound fancy, this Spanish sparkling wine has become the go-to drink for celebrations across Spain and around the world. Cava is Spain's best-known sparkling wine, produced mainly in the region of Catalonia.

Tim: you are so, so funny! The Putz family are not foodies & certainly are not interested in eating like us foodies! I think they are very focused on a diet for athletes not surgery, spicy, fatty foods! But the tapas selection was delightful!

Spain is such a wonderful place and it's mainly because of the people I got the privilege of meeting. In the little area of senxenxo, I met a lovely husband and wife who looks after the hotel, they took me on a tour around the city and the many beaches it has. really great people

I adore carrot cake but without the Walnuts I only enjoy Hazelnuts and Brazil nuts. Tim you've got to try the Spanish Touron this is the only Almond I would eat. I don't like Bakewell cakes or Marzipan. Enjoy your time in Spain. ❤

I just had that Nespresso coffee machine at yhe hotel I was at. So good coffee! So looked forward to breakfast every morning. Was so sad after moving on to another hotel.
No wonder the Spanish are so much healthier than Americans, us Aussie's and British - cheese for breakfast - not sugary cereals or big fry ups.

Thank you so much for asking! She finished strong, and in a triathlon there's always a couple of things that you can't prepare for like the environment and the equipment. A little bit of trouble with the equipment, mainly that bike, but she did very well 😀
